TUESDAY NOVEMBER 16
The Poisoned Pen 4014 N Goldwater Blvd. Suite 101 Scottsdale, AZ 85251 Clive and Dirk Cussler 6:00 pm http://www.poisonedpen.com/event-calendar/...rk-launch-party We'll have the Red Carpet out and photograph each fan to go up on a Flickr page as a memory of the Launch of Crescent Dawn (Putnam $28), taking Dirk Pitt and cast to Istanbul and into a marvelous adventure that ends with a spectacular sea battle in the city's harbor. Excitement. Thrills. History, Great stuff. http://www.poisonedpen.com/products/hficti...=Crescent+Dawn+ In A.D. 327, a Roman galley barely escapes a pirate attack with its extraordinary cargo. In 1916, a British warship mysteriously explodes in the middle of the North Sea. In the present day, a cluster of important mosques in Turkey and Egypt are wracked by explosions. Does anything tie them together? NUMA director Dirk Pitt is about to find out, as Roman artifacts discovered in Turkey and Israel unnervingly connect to the rise of a fundamentalist movement determined to restore the glory of the Ottoman Empire, and to the existence of a mysterious "manifest," lost long ago, which if discovered again . . . just may change the history of the world as we know it. Not me. Couldn't make all the moving pieces of life move together. I'm afraid the Poisoned Pen is too small and breakable an environment to contain Hurricane Campbell (my youngest) and I don't have a babysitter.
I'll have to try again with the release of The Kingdom next year. |
