Hi all,
I was wondering what the rarest Clive Cussler book is? I know there are quite a few books that are very difficult to get hold of but what is the rarest? Is it the Severn House Mayday?, the US hardbacks of Serpent or Blue Gold?, the 'Naked Pitt' Mediterranean Caper?, or is there another? Which books have you Clive Cussler fans & collectors struggled to get? As a UK collector, the rarest book for me is the Severn House Iceberg, it's the only first edition hardback i haven't got. I've never seen one for sale & the only time I've ever seen one is from a photo that Tony Krome posted in this forum last year!! Let us know you're thoughts........ |

I think the Dodd Mead Iceberg is the one I would like to have. Can't afford t though. The price when there is one on ebay is scary.

I believe one of ARC's of Night Probe is hard to get. The Iceberg copy looks amazing.
Was there a response given on how to obtain an ARC? This post has been edited by Mikedadski on Apr 3 2012, 12:28 AM |

You're right, the Dodd Iceberg does look amazing.....it's $7K though.....a deposit on a house. I'm keeping an eye, I'd love to know if it ever gets sold at that price.
No response yet on the ARC's but I'm hopeful. |

Visit used bookstores and keep and eye on ebay. Some times forum members will post they have some for sale. If your lucky a friend will give you one as a gift on birthdays, Christmas ect.

Any others that anyone can think of? We'll be making a cross country drive and we will be looking for antiques so I might as well search for a book or two...

Trust me I'm no expert...but if you ever run into any of these on your road trip, at a reasonable price, then i think you'll have some serious books for your Cussler collection.... The Mediterranean Caper - US - Pyramid - Paperback - 1973 - ISBN 0515031798 Iceberg - UK - Ulverscroft - Hardback - 1981 - ISBN 0708906918 Iceberg - US - Dodd Mead - Hardback - 1975 - ISBN 0396071856 Blue Gold - US - Pocket Books - Hardback - 2000 - ISBN 067178546X Serpent - US - Pocket Books - Hardback - 1999 - ISBN 0671026704 Dark Watch - US - Berkley - Hardback - 2005 - ISBN 0425205592 Sacred Stone - US - Berkley - Hardback - 2005 - ISBN 0425198480 Mayday - UK - Severn House - Hardback - 1978 - ISBN 072781253X Iceberg - UK - Severn House - Hardback - 1978 - ISBN 0727803638 Mediterranean Caper (Naked Pitt) - Paperback - ISBN 055304981X Pacific Vortex - UK - Piatkus - Hardback - 1983 - ISBN 086188423X Raise The Titanic - US - Viking - Hardback - 1998 - ISBN 086188423X (mis - spelled CLIVER on side) (Also there is a Raise The Titanic comic strip printed in the Winnipeg Tribune in 1977 over 8 issues...very rare too). I know there are loads more rareties but these are the ones that are top of my 'Wish List'. I don't know which ones are the rarest though. Good luck on your road trip. |

Thank you. I'm fortunate to have 2 of the Viking Raise the Titanic book. I went to a signing by Clive and Dirk when Black Wind was released and had them both sign one of tehm. Clive commented he had never seen that dust jacket before and was surprised at the miss spelling of his name. |

If you can get it for less then $50 and it's in fine condition, your not paying too much. |

You know, I know it's sad, but I don't think a day goes by where i don't wish i had the Severn Iceberg. I have UK 1st Editions of every single Cussler book except that one & my collection just doesn't feel complete without it!!!
I've seen the photo Tony posted on the forum a little while back but I haven't even seen one 'in the flesh' so to speak. Never even seen one for sale! If anybody out there 'just happens' to have a spare lol!!!! NB. I say i have every Cussler book, but for some extremely strange reason there is still no sign of the UK version of The Tombs being released. UK editions are usually released within about 7-10 days of the US but there seems to be a problem somewhere. Amazon UK keeps adding & then removing it from there release schedule. Anybody out there have a clue what's going on? Oh & buy the way, to all you Cussler fans out there, no matter what your colour, creed or religion, i send you all seasons greeting from the UK & hope you all have a wonderful Christmas & New Year (& Santa brings you all the Cussler books you want). |
