As this post goes online, a special one off airing of the complete Sahara movie is now being watched in Los Angeles. It is being described as the "Director's Cut" and the word is that people from the Cussler camp have refused to attend.

When we get more information, you'll find it posted here.

I'm sure they're just staying loyal to Dr. Cussler and his opinion (filing lawsuit) against the movie. Wow I hadn't realized that the movie was completed. I also noticed, in the trailer, it says "this holiday season..." but the movie is scheduled to come out next March. Hmm, could it bumped up?

and one last question, I saw nothing of the Calliope scene in which Pitt, Giordino, and Gunn drive up the Niger River, did they cut that scene out of the movie? Let's hope not!

Cussler Camp? supporters of Cusslers or those who work or are representing Dr. C? I am sure people will stilll attend the movie and it will draw those who are curious.

I noticed both of those two. If it is coming out this "holiday season" then we won't have to wait as long. I certainly hope they didn't cut the Calliope out of the movie. If they did, then I really don't want to see it.

I agree Hiram. In my mind, the whole Calliope/Niger River part was my favorite part of the book, and it would also give the movie something else, instead of being in the desert all the time.

hiramyaegar,

The Calliope boat type that was used in the movie has already been mentioned on the forum, so one must assume that the scene is part of the movie.

Great News! Now that I think about it, there was a topic about the Calliope. I even remember now that the boat is a Hunton 43! laugh.gif

Clive's daughter, and now publicist, DANA, lives in Los Angeles. My guess is, that she's the "Cussler Camp."
