Here is a list (book by book) of some of the references Clive Cussler makes to his other books, starting with...

The Mediterranean Caper

Reference to Pacific Vortex!:

It seemed strange, but Gunn couldn't stop his mind from drifting back many months ago to the bridge of another ship, a tramp steamer called the Dana Gail. He remembered as though it was only an hour ago seeing the same expression on Pitt's face just before the old rusty hulk cast off to find and destroy a mysterious seamount in the Pacific, north of Hawaii. The Mediterranean Caper (8)

Reference to Pacific Vortex!:

Pitt- "I saw the same equipment on an old ship in the Pacific just last year." The Mediterranean Caper (14)

Reference to Pacific Vortex!:

Gunn remembered that he had trusted Pitt's judgement on that Delphi Ea affair in Hawaii last year, and he hadn't been let down. The Mediterranean Caper (15)

Iceberg

Reference to The Mediterranean Caper:

"Pitt?" Koski echoed flatly. H glanced at Dover and lifted an eyebrow. Dover only shrugged and looked uncomfortable. "By any chance the same Pitt who broke up that underwater smuggling business in Greece last Year?" Iceberg (1)

Raise the Titanic!

Reference to Iceberg:

"Where did you ever find such a gorgeous old machine?" Seagram asked.

"I ran across it at Keflavik, Iceland," Pitt replied. "Managed to buy it at a fair price and have it shipped back to the States." Raise the Titanic! (25)

Vixen 03

Reference to Raise the Titanic!:

"His name is Pitt, Dirk Pitt. He's special-projects director for the National Underwater and Marine Agency. You know-he's the guy who headed up the Titanic's salvage operation." Vixen 03 (1)

Reference to Raise the Titanic!:

"Dirk Pitt"

"The fellow who raised the Titanic a few months back?" Vixen 03 (47)

Reference to Raise the Titanic!:

A 1912 Renault open-drive landaulette."

"Seems a bit worse for the wear, "said Jarvis, wiping a finger through a layer of rust.

Pitt smiled patiently. "She doesn't really look all that bad when you consider she's been immersed in the sea for seventy years."

Jarvis understood immediately. "From the Titanic?"

"Yes, I was allowed to keep her after the salvage project. Sort of a prize for services rendered., so to speak." Vixen 03 (50)

Night Probe! Night Probe!

Reference to Raise the Titanic!:

"Mr. Pitt, I'm Ray Weeks. This is indeed an honor. I was absorbed by your work on the Titanic raising. You might even say I'm a fan of yours." Night Probe! (53)

Deep Six

Reference to Iceberg:

"The Catawba," he repeated as if reminiscing.

"Yes, you know of her?"

"Set a copter on her flight pad myself a few years ago."

"Where was that?"

"North Atlantic, near Iceland." He was gazing beyond the island now. He sighed and massaged his temples. "A good friend and I were hunting for a ship imbedded in an iceberg."

"Did you find it?"

He nodded. "A burned-out hulk. Barely beat the Russians to it. Later we crashed in the surf on the Icelandic coast. My friend was killed" Deep Six (5)

Reference to Night Probe!:

The President's eyes widened. "I know Mr. Pitt. He proved most helpful on the Canadian affair a few months ago." Deep Six (4)

Cyclops

Reference to Raise the Titanic!:

Pitt had dived on many shipwrecks and he was the first man to view the Titanic, but staring at the lost ghost ship of legend left him numb with an almost superstitious awe. Cyclops (21)

Reference to Deep Six:

"I realize that, but you've pulled skeletons out of the closet before."

Yaeger nodded thoughtfully. "Yes, the Bougainville shipping family a few months ago. A neat little caper, if I do say so." Cyclops (9)

Reference to Night Probe!:

"I see from the dossier General Velikov gave me that you directed a salvage project on the Empress of Ireland shipwreck in the Saint Lawrence River." Cyclops (30)

Reference to Night Probe!:

"You say you two met before?"

"Yes, during the Empress of Ireland project is search of the North American Treaty. I think you may recall it." Cyclops (42)

Treasure

Reference to Cyclops:

Pitt stared at the blurred image too. "Remember the Cyclops? She was lost without a trace too."

"How can we forget her?" Giordino groaned. "We still carry the scars."

Dragon

Reference to Raise the Titanic:

"Mr. Pitt. Mr. Dirk Pitt?" he inquired in West Coast American.

"Yes."

"I was informed you were coming. Josh Nogami. This is a real honor. I've been a fan of yours since you raised the Titanic. As a matter of fact, I took up scuba diving because of you." Dragon (48)

Reference to Deep Six:

"You overlooked the capabilities of Pitt and Giordino," Sandecker replied with a sharp edge to his voice. "It wouldn't be the first time they bailed out a fancy intelligence agency carnival."

Kern looked at him strangely, then turned to Jordan for help, but it was the President who answered.

"I think what Admiral Sandecker is referring to are the several occasions Mr. Pitt has saved the government's ass. One in particular hits close to home." The President paused for effect. "You see, it was Pitt who saved my life along with that of Congresswoman Smith four years ago in the gulf."

"I remember." Jordan turned from the five. "He used an old Mississippi River paddle steamer to do it." Dragon (45)

Sahara

Reference to Treasure:

Hala stared off into space as she spoke. "About five years ago, the three men you sent up the Niger saved my life from terrorist assassins, not once but twice. The first time was on a mountain in Breckenridge, Colorado; the other was at an abandoned mine near a glacier on the Straits of Magellan. Admiral Sandecker is playing on my conscience to repay the favor." Sahara (15)

Inca Gold

Reference to Sahara:

"If anyone can track down a sea mystery, you can."

"I have an utter lack of willpower when it comes to delving into one of your enigmas, especially after we found old Abe Lincoln on a Confederate ironclad in the middle of the Sahara Desert together." Inca Gold (12)

Reference to Sahara:

It reminded him of his trek across the Sahara Desert of Northern Mali with Giordino two years before. They had come within minutes of dying under the fiery hell of scorching temperatures with no water. Only by finding a mysterious plane wreck did they manage to construct a land yacht and sail across the sands to eventual rescue. Inca Gold (49)

Shock Wave

Reference to Vixen 03:

"You know any other way to get on board?"

"Only one. But it's not approve by the Ladies Home Journal."

"The battleship drop in the Vixen affair," said Pitt, recalling. Shock Wave (7)

Reference to Night Probe:

Edward Posey - " A pleasure see you again, Dirk. How long has it been?"

"Eleven years ago, during the spring of 1989."

"Yes, the Doodlebug Project. We met at the conference when you gave a report on your discovery of the oil field near Baffin Island." Shock Wave (17)
