Title: Heroes and Villains
Drekal - February 24, 2006 09:37 PM (GMT)
So I'm making two test decks for testing the ol' card game. A hero and a villain deck. I figure, what the hell? Let the people make suggestions, based loosely on their favourite characters.
Strangely, nobody wanted to discuss. I have decided to acredit this to the following:
1: People don't know how the game will play, so making cards for it would be kinda silly.
2: It was a slow night, and people forgot the next day.
In response to 1: Just pick a character, and describe how his effect would work in the game of your choice. Please state the game, but I suspect you will all choose Magic.
In response to 2: I made a seperate thread for the purpose.
Come on guys! It'll be fun!
Oh, and I would like to point out that I totally mean comic book heroes and villains.
Finally, if there is a third reason that nobody is showing interest, just say something. Please.
mordain - February 24, 2006 09:39 PM (GMT)
...you can make a new thread in the general forum too, y'know...
I'll move this one and delete extranious posts, too (like this one and your response), if you want. This isn't spam, it's a project...
Newb - February 24, 2006 09:44 PM (GMT)
Name: FZ
Creature Type: Furry
Effect:Take all blame. You may have damage dealt to FZ instead of target player or creature.
10/8
Drekal - February 24, 2006 10:34 PM (GMT)
Ah, okay. Go ahead and move it, then.
(Cough)
Newb misses the point.
Okay, nothing new there, but still. Keep that post there, and I'll respond explaining that I'm not looking for forum based cards, just comic based cards.

Drekal - February 26, 2006 01:43 PM (GMT)
Very nice. But what hero artefacts are there?
Lessee...There could be a Lantern ring, a Batarang...What else?
Spriteless Girl - February 26, 2006 04:20 PM (GMT)
Kryptonite. All ten toys from JLA VS Avengers.
Drekal - February 26, 2006 04:40 PM (GMT)
Kryptonite would be more of a villains artefact, actually.
Ah! Web shooters! Thors hammer. That sorta thing.
Red - February 26, 2006 08:54 PM (GMT)
batman has about 50 billion himself.
batrang, knock out gass, grapling hook, mp3 player, various chemicals, his utility belt can count as one.
Kuraiou - February 26, 2006 08:59 PM (GMT)
Wonder Woman's bracers. Lasso of truth. Spectre's cloak. Doctor Fate's mask.
Drekal - February 26, 2006 09:01 PM (GMT)
Ah, but what would these things do in a card game environment?
Batmans utility belt could, for instance, allow you to add an artefact from your deck to your hand once a turn instead of drawing a card.
Shadow776 - February 26, 2006 09:01 PM (GMT)
Red - February 26, 2006 09:03 PM (GMT)
Bat-grappling hook
T: give target creature flying until end of turn.
Batrang
T2: destroy all creatures with a toughness of 2 or less under your opponents control.
Drekal - February 26, 2006 09:20 PM (GMT)
Probably give them additional abilities when Batman is on your side of the field, too...Doncha think?
Alan Bates - February 27, 2006 01:40 AM (GMT)
Hal Jordan.
Get to hit anybody for no good reason for free!
Captain America's Sheild. Can be used to block any attack and suffer no ill effects.
Ultimate Nullifier. Ends the game, killing everybody
Ultimization: Hero gets physically weaker, but becomes more of a jerk. Side effects may include changing the person's race for no apparent reason.
Eye of Amagatto: lets you look at the next three cards in your opponets hand (or something to that effect)
Bendis: Players must sit and talk for five minutes before playing any card for the remainder of the game
Iyestorm - February 27, 2006 04:11 AM (GMT)
Lasso of Truth: Look at your opponent's hand, select and discard a card.
Victor Null - February 27, 2006 09:17 AM (GMT)
Ageing Comic. 1BB
Enchant
Target hero's storyline becomes so convoluted that nobody really knows whats going on anymore. Destroy all new readers on the field.
T: Target Fanboy becomes Complete Jerk until the end of turn and must attack if possible due to their fear of change.
Seriously Alan, did you have to go there? we're all aware of your hatred of the Ultimate line and, so far, we were keeping prejidices like that out of this thread. That was just dirty pool. I even kept my dislike of DC in check and made cards for their characters as fair as I could, as balanced as i could and as best I could.
Drekal - February 27, 2006 11:16 AM (GMT)
Yeah, but other than that and Bendis, the cards are definitely playable.
Or at least, I could use the basic idea behind it and create a workable effect.
Drekal - February 28, 2006 01:39 PM (GMT)
Okay...So how about Galactus, then? Every turn he doesn't destroy a creature in battle, a counter gets added to him. When the fifth is added, he's destroyed.
Other than that, he's hella hard to kill.
Then there's Juggernaut. Can't be killed in battle (which would take a hell of a lot anyway..) and if you can get his helmet(which would be a seperate artefact) on the field, you got something pretty nasty, that can't be killed. Limited to one, methinks, on both counts.
Symbiote: Enhances the stats of whoever wears it. Possibly enhances the effect as well...somehow.
But then, a couple of turns later, the card it is equipped to is destroyed, automatically, and you get to re-equip it to a different creature or destroy this card.

Relax. It was a joke. I notice you didn't say anything about the reference to hal Jordan's punch-o-rama or Bendis's talky writing style.
Drekal - February 28, 2006 01:55 PM (GMT)
Also, I notice that nobody is making any villain based cards...Funny that. :^_^:
Like, say, Dr Octopus. Can perform multiple attacks a turn, but each time, he gets a little weaker.
Alan Bates - February 28, 2006 02:11 PM (GMT)
Unus the untouchable. Can't be hit by any physical attacks or energy projection abilities.
Parasite: Every time he does damage to an opponent, he gets physically stronger
Shadow King: After being defeated, he can continue to attack or use special abilities. In this second satte, he can only be harmed by mental or reality warping attacks. If all his allies are defeated and he's in this state, he's also considered defeated.
Drekal - February 28, 2006 02:17 PM (GMT)
Excellent. I can use these. Kinda.
Victor Null - March 1, 2006 06:15 AM (GMT)

Drekal - March 2, 2006 03:56 PM (GMT)
Got a lot of good stuff here, that most likely can be used...
Did I post about the Villains Hideout? Provides a power up to all supervillains on the field. Also, whenever effect damage is done to an opponent, gain a little life. If this causes a perpetual loop, destroy this card.
Also, Heroes HQ. Provides a power up to all superheroes on the field. Also, instead of drawing, you may select two hero type cards in your grave and shuffle them into your deck.
And for good measure(And inspired by a recent JLU ep) Deadman: By tapping this card, you may select one of your opponents creatures, and equip it to this card. Deadman gains all the effects and stats of that equipped card. If you use this ability while Deadman has a creature equipped to it, return the creature to the card owners side of the field. When Deadman would normally be destroyed, destroy the equipped creature instead.
Zap Rowsdower - March 2, 2006 04:29 PM (GMT)

7/8
Galactus BBBBB10
Legendary eater of worlds.
Indestructable.
Put 5 counters on Galactus, remove a counter from Galactus during your upkeep phase.
if there is a counter on Galactus he is considered to have summoning sickness and cannot attack

18/25
Infinity Gauntlets. 15
Legendary object.
T: destroy target creature.
T: destroy target artifact
T: destroy target land
T: Gain 10 life
T: deals 10 points of direct damage to your opponent
T: Destroy Infinity Gauntlets
Infinity Gauntlets can only be destroyed by its own effect.
During your upkeep phase put a tribunal counter (1/1 white creature) onto your opponents side of the field. this counter cannot be effected by the effects of the infinity gauntlet and have Banding and Trample.
Tribunal counters get +X/+X where X is equal to the number of Tribunal counters in play.
When Infinity Gauntlets is sent to the graveyard Remove all Tribunal counters from play.
Language needs to be cleaned up a bit but I think I got my point across.
Alan Bates - March 3, 2006 07:02 AM (GMT)
Adam Warlock
Cards that allow you to look at, pic, or so how interact with an opponetns cards cannot be used while Adam Warlock is in play
The Collector
While the collector is in play, all artifact type cards are reshuffled back into the draw deck after use
Joker
The player palces all his cards back into the draw deck, shuffles them, and draws an entire new hand every turn that the Joker is in play.
Drekal - March 3, 2006 09:29 AM (GMT)
You mean every card in the players hand for the Joker, right?
And the Infinity Gauntlets seem appropriately broken.
This might be enough to make a deck, actually...There are a few running themes that can be played with.
But by all means, carry on.
Red - March 3, 2006 11:32 AM (GMT)
yeah, its broken, but in a fixed way. i mean you can only use one ability a turn, and each turn you use it your opponent gets more, stronger monsters that can't be destroyed.
not to mention its ginormous cost.
I'd say there's enough here to make a basis for our own magic based expantion set.
if you need art I have a bunch. including a good shot of Cable getting bitchslapped by the silver surfer.

Cable 4WWUU
Legendary Soldier.

Drekal - March 3, 2006 12:08 PM (GMT)
...Nice.
Yeah, a hero deck shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Red - March 3, 2006 12:26 PM (GMT)
well, it would, but only because of the colors of the heros varies widely...
oh and a note on Rogue.... It was a toss up finding a secondary color for her. I didn't know if Red would fit with the black or Blue would fit, or even green seemed the best for a while, so make up your mind as to what color you want her..
and Cyclops I was going to make White/Blue but... I dunno.
Drekal - March 3, 2006 03:53 PM (GMT)
Don't worry about that too much. Remember, I'm gonna be taking these effects and modifying them to their rough equivalent in a new system of my own design. These are basically acting like guidelines.
