Title: Christmas rules and you rule for liking it

ShadowWarriorLuke - December 3, 2009 07:57 AM (GMT)
So yeah. Ironic twist that I'm also doing this thread, but I'm sure there's people who have nothing but good to say about Christmas so here's a thread to... umm... what's the opposite of bitching?

So... good stuff. Good stuff... working at the volunteer centre has been good for me, and I get to do some filming and then a Christmas party afterwards on the 18th.

So let's see how good this Christmas is for the fine denizens of this here forum.

Notty - December 3, 2009 08:01 AM (GMT)
We should have a rule mandating that once you post in one thread, you can't post in the other. :P

Anyway, looking forward to Christmas this year if for no other reason than some freaking time off...

mordain - December 3, 2009 08:07 AM (GMT)
I am not a fan of Christmas itself, persay, but I had a great holiday season last year (except for the, uh, horrible downer of my grandmother dying), and this December is looking to be another very good one, so... I am cautiously supporting this thread.

Red Silvers - December 3, 2009 08:12 AM (GMT)
I'm looking forward to two weeks of having the house to myself at the end of the month.

MFD - December 3, 2009 02:04 PM (GMT)
I may be unemployed, have access to limited funds, and not optimistic about that improving this month (next month, new year, employers more willing to hire people)...

But, damn, I love Christmas. Every time.

Alan Bates - December 3, 2009 02:39 PM (GMT)
Our store participates in both the Toys for Tots program and works with Project Claus. Toys for Tots raises thousands of dollars for children that wouldn't get toys for Christmas other wise and Project Clause comes in and buys a whole big trailer truck full of toys to distribute to the community.

That always cheers me up a bit, that and the people that come in saying that they're buying toys to donate to some children they've never met before.

Same here.

Pretty much in the same boat.

Although every year I'm sad that I live someplace that never sees snow.

ryu planeswalker - December 3, 2009 09:11 PM (GMT)
I am gonna be santa for a day in my store.

You're going to have to let us know how that goes.

They talked about me playing Santa one year, but it never happened.

Grandmaster Jogurt - December 4, 2009 12:40 AM (GMT)
You should just show up to work in your Spider-man costume with a Santa costume on over that. If they make you take off the Santa suit, you're still having a great day!

Zap Rowsdower - December 4, 2009 12:43 AM (GMT)
I'd go the classical route myself. Dress as Santa in his early years- Allfather Odin!

Blade Master Model 42 - December 5, 2009 03:34 AM (GMT)
I think Christmas always has been, and always will be my favorite holiday.

The only thing I feel uncomfortable about it is the whole 'Santa' thing.

I wish..

ryu planeswalker - December 6, 2009 03:04 AM (GMT)
So...I was Santa today.

It was about what you would expect, some good Kids, some bad kids..alot of kids who were shy, the only real notable thing is that one kid asked for world peace for their present.

Red Silvers - December 6, 2009 03:24 AM (GMT)
And you let him down! You bastard!

ryu planeswalker - December 6, 2009 04:00 AM (GMT)
Its not my fault they haven't voted me in as supreme overlord of the world yet.

Zap Rowsdower - December 6, 2009 04:06 AM (GMT)
They don't vote for that. Be proactive! Make that kid's dream a reality and CRUSH THE GOVERNMENTS OF THE WORLD WITH AN IRON FIST!

ryu planeswalker - December 6, 2009 05:01 AM (GMT)
That takes the ability to do hard work, and money...and initiative.

and I don't have any of those.

Cyrus - December 7, 2009 02:36 AM (GMT)
So, Christmas is awesome.

You have to do it, ryu! Think of the children!

ryu planeswalker - December 7, 2009 04:57 AM (GMT)
I do think of the children...in a nice Stew.

Oh with that Iron Grip
All the kids will sing the name of your dictatorship!

Cyrus - December 7, 2009 03:43 PM (GMT)
It just snowed over here for the first time in a decade.

Glee!

It just snowed here... actually, it didn't snow here at all.

Oh well.

Spriteless Girl - December 7, 2009 04:19 PM (GMT)
There's still some hail on the ground from last night. That's like snow.

Red Silvers - December 7, 2009 04:20 PM (GMT)
*is already tired of shoveling the walks*

Cyrus - December 7, 2009 04:33 PM (GMT)
Well hey. Some of us live in horrible climates where it's comfortable all year round and never get to deal with snow.

Red Silvers - December 7, 2009 04:35 PM (GMT)
Oh yes, that sounds so horrible.

Cyrus - December 7, 2009 04:47 PM (GMT)
Terribly!

Blade Master Model 42 - December 8, 2009 12:07 AM (GMT)
Truly, you are a put upon soul.

I had my first snow already, but it melted. Which is odd. Inclement weather is more normal where I live.

Nifar - December 8, 2009 04:14 AM (GMT)
It was supposed to snow here, but it never happened. I think the weather men are secretly mocking those of us who remember the last time it snowed down here.

Arc - December 8, 2009 04:57 AM (GMT)
It was more of a pathetic flurry here, but somehow the snow on the deck turned into an inch thick ice rink. SOLID ICE...which yields sneaker skating, but sadly my job was to kill it with fire an iron shovel so someone doesn't break a hip on it. Oh, wait, this is the CHEER thread so...as a consolation, the ice made lovely throwing pieces.

The following is an email conversation I held with my brother to make sure that the gift I intended to give him was something he didn't already have.

Me: I had considered perhaps getting you Family Guy series 8, but wasn't sure if you had it. Instead you get a Mock the Week dvd and a new Bill Bailey one.

Neil: I think I already have the mock the week one “too hot for TV?”

Me: Too Hot for TV 2, actually.

Neil: OOOOOH. Yay. Got the first for my birthday and have watched it waaaay too many times.

Me: Keep in mind, you're going abroad with your friends on the 28th. You'll only be able to enjoy the dvd for about three days.

Neil: … True. Thanks for sucking the joy out of that.

Me: Hey, if I can't suck all the fun out of something, I'm not being a very good big brother.

LuppyLuptonium - December 15, 2009 12:55 AM (GMT)
I just want to very sincearly thank Carl. The real Crazy one. Thank you brother. I owe you.

Yes, I know this isn't the mmo thread, but it's still the right one. Thanks, RedSilvers!

Red Silvers - December 17, 2009 10:55 PM (GMT)
Even though it wasn't technically a Christmas gift, I'm still counting it. Thanks for the game, Car!

Drekal - December 19, 2009 07:48 PM (GMT)
You know something I can't help but love about this time of year?

I get to watch Blackadder's Christmas Special again!

And on top of that.

I get to watch Father Ted's Christmas Special again!

Hooray!

Just Jon - December 19, 2009 09:33 PM (GMT)
Oh man... Sometimes youtube bothers me. Sometimes it just seems like a typical junk pile found all over the internet. But if it can bring me A muppet family christmas it is not only allowed to stay but has full blessings.

I can't not be in the Christmas mood after watching that.
