Alan Bates - October 24, 2004 02:18 PM (GMT)
The first two battles are....

From Bracket 1...
Felix, from Golden Sun
vs
Roy from Fire Emblem 6

From Bracket 2
The online battle between
Terajima Ryoko from .hack
vs
Fireman.exe from the Megaman battle Network series.

LET'S GET READY TO...........FIGHT!

ShadowWarriorLuke - October 24, 2004 02:29 PM (GMT)
Bracket 1

I'd go with Felix. He has psychic abilities such as telekinesis, and he's able to control the power of Earth. He also survived from a giant boulder crashing down on top of him.

Bracket 2

Ryoko I suppose. I'm not really that far into .hack, but from what I've read about her, she seems pretty skilled. Fire Man.exe just seems like a virus program, so he could probably have a quick Data Drain defeat him. Although I'm not sure Ryoko has that power.

EDIT: I threw these together. Bracket 1 is red, Bracket 2 is blue, obviously.

Spriteless Girl - October 24, 2004 03:11 PM (GMT)
Bracket 1: I never played either game.
Bracket 2: I never played .hack, but I know Mr. Match seems incapable of making Navi's that can stand up to much punishment. So long as Ryoko can dodge his slow attacks, she will win by virtue of gettin more hits in. Especially if she has a peice of equipment with a water/ice attack.

Notty - October 24, 2004 04:10 PM (GMT)
I'm going to have to give the nod to Roy here.

The sheer cheapness of the Sword of Seals is the only thing that saves him though.

It'd really be a wear down battle with Felix and Roy beating the crap out of each other, then healing with Psynergy/SoS, and then rinse and repeat.

If these are cinematic battles, Felix will run out of Psynergy eventually, but Roy's sword wont.

I don't know enough about FireMan.exe to comment, but I will say:

GO RYOKO! BEAT THE LIVING TAR OUT OF THAT NAVI!

MechaMage - October 24, 2004 04:20 PM (GMT)
FireMan is actually pretty tough in the Rockman.exe anime. The only reason Megaman kicks his but is because Fireman is SLOW. I honestly haven't played .hack, so I can't comment on the other side of the battle....

Alan Bates - October 24, 2004 05:36 PM (GMT)
Ah, so it seems this Fireman is much more of a powerhouse. Intresting.

Blackdeathdraco - October 24, 2004 05:42 PM (GMT)
The speed of a twin blade is high despite the weak attacks they do. Thats all i have to say, i played to the second game.

Notty - October 24, 2004 05:46 PM (GMT)
Uhh...Ryoko's a Heavy Axe(wo)man, BDD...

Alan Bates - October 24, 2004 06:00 PM (GMT)
I can't say I'm really familair with either of them, but it sounds like we have a heavy axe user against a heavy fire weilding robot. I'm kinda partial to Fireman.exe here.

Blackdeathdraco - October 24, 2004 06:01 PM (GMT)
DANGIT, Its been too long since I last played the game. Anyways as long as she can get close enough to hit Fireman then she can win.

Alan Bates - October 24, 2004 06:02 PM (GMT)
But can she get close enough to a robot thats spraying her down with flames? That's the question.

Blackdeathdraco - October 24, 2004 06:08 PM (GMT)
I think she is fast enough to avoid the flames, if not then i need to play the game again. Now where is my Action Replay?

Notty - October 24, 2004 06:15 PM (GMT)
I'd imagine it wouldn't take too many hits to bring FireMan down, and Ryoko can heal herself fairly well.

MechaMage - October 24, 2004 06:17 PM (GMT)
You DO realize Fireman has a sword, so he can fight back in melee?

Notty - October 24, 2004 06:22 PM (GMT)
No, no I didn't.

But a quick glance over at GameFAQ's shows that her best weapon gives her the ability to cast a high-level water spell ( I think ).

I'm still thinking Ryoko here.

Forever Zero - October 24, 2004 07:52 PM (GMT)
I don't know either, at all, so I can't comment too much. But it seems to me that Ranged Fire beats Melee, but if the Melee has water powers as well, then she could take on a Ranged Fire person.

Alan Bates - October 24, 2004 08:34 PM (GMT)
So, is there anyone terribly familair with the characters that could tell us the extent of her water powers?

Also, there really doesn't seem to be much arguing over Roy vs Felix. The popular votes says Roy wins that one. Anybodyc are to object?

ShadowWarriorLuke - October 24, 2004 08:41 PM (GMT)
One argument in Felix's favour is that while his psynergy can wear out, he can recharge it just by running about. Plus he can transform into sand for an easy escape, and possesses weapons with ancient spirits in them. And the Djinni could give him the upper hand.

Notty - October 24, 2004 08:46 PM (GMT)
Running about won't do much, as at a distance, Roy would start launching columns of fire at Felix.

You do make a good point about the sand, but he cant turn into sand unless there's sand underneath him, and even then, he can only go as far as the sand goes, making him an easy target.

Djiini and special weapons (read: Sol Blade/Excalibur) MIGHT make a difference, but with the magical resistance and physical defence bonuses that Roy gets from the SoS, I can't see it helping THAT much.

It's still an even fight, I just think Roy has the advantage.

Alan Bates - October 24, 2004 09:16 PM (GMT)
At this point, I decalre the first battles over. The Bracket 1 victor: ROY!
Winner of Bracket 2: Terajima Ryoko!

Next battles
Bracket 1:
SABIN FIGARO of Final fantasy 6
vs
XIANGHUA for Soul Calibur 2

bracket 2:
THRALL from Warcraft 3
vs
VECTORMAN title character of his own game.

Big McStrongmuscle - October 24, 2004 09:26 PM (GMT)
Can't comment on fight two, but Sabin could probably take his home. Bum Rush, Aura Beam, and Fire Dance are all nigh-unstoppable moves that can easily be whipped off in less than a second or two. Unless Xianghua closes and closes fast and aggressively, she's done from the start, and even at close range, Sabin probably has a Genji Glove and a Black Belt on him. Add onto that his ability to use espers and magic, and this one's fairly one-sided.

Red Silvers - October 24, 2004 09:52 PM (GMT)
Thrall would open with a Chain Lightning and then move in to trap Vectorman in an earthquake, if he's got speed in his favor. If not, he'd summon his wolves as a distraction.

Red Silvers - October 24, 2004 09:54 PM (GMT)
(also, commenting on Ryoko from before)
Shes not the fastest, but she has massive HP which means she can take as well as give. As for her water abilities, she can get some high level water spells, but she wouldn't be able to use too many of them before her MP would run out. However, MP recovers pretty fast in .hack, also...

Just FYI later on.

Blackdeathdraco - October 24, 2004 10:05 PM (GMT)
I put in a voucher for sabin bum-rushing multiple time, powerfull stuff there.

I think vectorman can reassemble himself in different ways, but its been a while since i played that game on the genisis. last i renember is that vectorman has a small tank form.

Grandmaster Jogurt - October 24, 2004 10:06 PM (GMT)
Thrall would decimate Vectorman. Vectorman can shoot energy bolts, as can Thrall. Thrall can also shoot lightning, cause earthquakes, see the future, and summon invisible ninja wolves.

Never played FF6, so I'm out for the first one, though...

MechaMage - October 24, 2004 10:12 PM (GMT)
Thrall, like many of the Warcraft heroes, is basically a demigod. He'd kick Vectorman's butt.

Deadicons - October 24, 2004 10:12 PM (GMT)
Braket one:
Saban because Xianghua loses to Heiachi(old dude from Tekken), and it is my opnion that Saban could kick Heiachi ass.

Bracket two:
I don't know about Thrall, but Vector man did take down an entire army of robots by himself. This includes a giant nuke with hands and an attitude. So I am going to give the fight too Vector man.

Alan Bates - October 24, 2004 10:13 PM (GMT)
Vectorman CAN pullhimself backtogether, to clarify.

MechaMage - October 24, 2004 10:14 PM (GMT)
Can he pull himself back together after being hit by Chain Lightning?

Notty - October 24, 2004 10:14 PM (GMT)
Much as I like her, Xianghua doesn't stand much of a chance against Sabin.

Can't say much about the second fight.

Alan Bates - October 24, 2004 10:14 PM (GMT)
Probably.

Grandmaster Jogurt - October 24, 2004 10:16 PM (GMT)
Vectorman can pull himself together, but he does have very limited stamina... and the WC3 Heroes can take quite the punishment at Thrall's level.

MechaMage - October 24, 2004 10:18 PM (GMT)
Are we assuming Thrall to be lvl 10?

Blackdeathdraco - October 24, 2004 10:21 PM (GMT)
I would assume that thoreticly all charaters are max levels of their genere, sorta end game acclumination and fight to the death (that goes for non level-based charaters too) but thats only my guess.

Grandmaster Jogurt - October 24, 2004 10:23 PM (GMT)
Thrall should be considered a high-level hero just because he's the leader of the Orcs. Even if we don't count endgame stats, the endgame situation requires him to be strong, since he's the warchief of the Horde.

Blackdeathdraco - October 24, 2004 10:24 PM (GMT)
True dat. But i have not played alot of wc3 to know that much about him.

MechaMage - October 24, 2004 10:26 PM (GMT)
By endgame, Thrall is helping fight off a horde of demons, so I'd say he's pretty damn strong.

Notty - October 24, 2004 10:27 PM (GMT)
The general rule is that its endgame stats, not how much you can twink a character out. *coughLaharlcough*

Deadicons - October 24, 2004 10:27 PM (GMT)
If one of Thrall's better abilites is a lightning attack that may actually heal or at least be ineffecive aginst Vectorman. two reasons one the health power ups in the game were a free floating yellow globes; two he was made too work close to the sun they probably put both heat and electric protection on him.
