A lot of people here go by a different name on other forums - including Knight, who I believe picked that name mostly as a joke (and random coincidence). You are hardly alone in that respect. tongue.gif

I would note that "Newb" is winning. Thing is, you've been a regularly active member under that name for a long time. Really, I recommend not changing it. The only (currently active) member with a name change is zap, and we still call him Randy.

FZ also used to be called Rook

QUOTE (Newb @ Oct 28 2010, 04:41 PM)
And I was finding my own name to be increasingly inaccurate, and asked if I could change my name to the thing I'm going by practically everywhere else.

The other names on there were my attempt to humor Knight, who seemed oddly reluctant to change my name, when I know from experience that his two separate responses via PM took more effort than changing it would have been.

See, the difference as I see it is, I had no way of knowing when I chose my former names that I would become more active than I had been for months, or that my philosophy would change THAT drastically. On the other hand, everyone is new once, and the state definitely passes, so you knew when you chose it that it wouldn't always be applicable, unlike me.

And I'm Rook, and so's my wife!

NO ME.

Also, I would note that since "Newb" is winning by a landslide, you should probably just stick with it. It's what we all know you by now, and I don't think anyone actually associates it with you being new, considering you've been around for five goddamned years now.

Either stick with Newb or let Alan make the poll.

Yeah, since the thing that I was hoping for is in second, and a distant second at that, I think I'll just stick with Newb.

On the bright side, this whole ordeal has been the most exciting thing to happen on this forum since old man FZ found a pillbug in his mashed potatoes!

Also, NO I'M ROOKICUS!

Well, you know how college is. You're sitting there in your dorm room wearing nothing but your panties and a t-shirt that's far too tight, doing your advanced calculus homework, and your super-hot roommate who you've got a huge crush on comes in and says that the engineering student down the hall needs some help with a practical example of the benefits of flexibility in architecture, and the next thing you know you're making the beast with twelve backs and you've somehow increased a bust size.

I suggest changing to one of the following.

Max Rebo
Captain Oblivious
Fungus McGee

or, you know, just staying as Newb

Wait... wait! I got it!
A way to satisfy the people that DON'T want the name change and a way to satisfy the one person that does. You will be ....
