Well you have to admit it was worth a shot. And I think this just proves that she got touched by the mask some time after she helped Melchior reforge the blade.

That's more than one hit unless she cheats again, which doesn't seem likely.

If she's KOd shouldn't the fight have ended with a transition to non battle screen?

No damage numbers on her so I think she just got knocked back without taking any actual damage. She's at 1 HP tho' so it is slightly surprising that getting knocked back ten feet didn't kill her.

I wonder what the pain difference is between high damage hits, and pain taken that apparently causes no battle damage?

Honestly, this short circuit seemed to involve more of a revelation than anything else. I think her touching the masamune is going to reveal the next best course of action for her to take to defeat the eater of dreams

I'm curious what Lucca's realized. It's possible she's being mockingly sarcastic of herself at the end, but I've got a good feeling about it.

I also take from the big panel with the Mask that the story of how the group got Crono's mom back home is also the story of how Lucca became Touched. Whether it's told sooner or later, should be very interesting to see.

I think she's doing better now, because with the sword's influence, she now has hope that her Robo is out there somewhere.

Perhaps its possible that the sword cured her being touched?

I wouldn't go that far. Perhaps she is in remission, though.

Perhaps she will pull a Roll an have both powers

If that happens I think it'd only be temporarily.

I doubt that it'd be temporary, Cador. Roll gained Alpha-energy through direct contact with an Alpha-emitter.

What is the Masamune? An Alpha-emitter. Which Lucca made direct contact with.

Still, I do believe that the powers of the Mask are still in effect. Hence, the visions that Lucca saw are likely visions of the future.

A future where Crono and Marle are still alive. At least, at present. (BTW, my points are on Alex being the guy she's trying to revive in the final vision. 1-and-a-half or a-half on Schroedinger in that last panel.)

Which may explain Lucca's laughter at the end; she may fall in battle today, but she knows that she'll live to fight another day. EDIT: And see her friends once more.

A good "what if" will be "What if Roll and Lucca meet?" (Roll's Omega powers would be shard-related, Lucca's mask-related.) Though, personally, I'd like to see whether Alex is able to free Marle from her straight-jacket back in Nexus. Let each extant storyline patch themselves before we bring everyone together.

Its not just contact with an alpha emitter, its contact with an alpha emitter with an emotional, reassuring connection to the Touched individual.
Roll gained Alpha influence because of love for her brother and the comfort of his presence. Was the Masamune enough to represent Frog and his emotional connection? Is that connection enough?

Well, she DID help remake it, so there might be a motherly connection there as well.

Two or three weeks ago. Basically, the stars aligned and a number of different things worked in favor of regular updates.

Note that the "aura" surrounding Lucca when she's blasted back isn't purple or green, but orange.

Unless I miss my guess, that'd probably be a healthy "neutral" color for someone with a "Fire" nature.

Uh, that's probably just supposed to be a blur effect colored by her outfit to represent how quickly she was knocked back.

I wouldn't count on that. Colors have seemed to be centrally important in this comic.
