It is time. Your reasons are your own, but your actions are the same. You were all at different places, but now you are all here. Your Pokemon Journey has started.

It may be familiar to those who have done it before, but the act of logging in is... disconcerting. One moment, you're offline in the real world, and the next you feel your consciousness being stretched thin. Then, like a rubber band, it snaps back... but it feels different.

Gravity isn't quite right. You feel the same mass, but your weight... feels slightly off. Light is odd: it is bright enough to see, and the walls glisten, but there is no visible light source. Colors are off. It is almost as if someone took the contrast of your vision and turned it up slightly. There is no wind, and everything smells... sterile.

You are in a large, all but featureless room, filled with dozens of trainers. There are no windows, but there is a large set of double doors at the far end. Before you know it, a loud booming voice has sounded over everything.

"BEGIN"

The vast majority of trainers immediately rush out of this entrance hall, as if they have no time to lose. Some, however, have yet to leave.

It might be a good idea to follow suit, and get on your way...

...but then again, this might be a good opportunity to suss out your competition.

Lavender looks around, ignoring the disorienting effects of logging on.

Showing little interest in socialization, she moves to exit the hall, and get started on her journey.

After regaining his composure, Michael looks around at the other trainers. They're all look pretty tough...maybe that'll help me not be seen as a threat. He decides to move on, realizing that their must be some kind of bonus for getting wherever they were heading before the others considering how quick they were to get out.

The possible terrorist seems no worse for the wear, as he readjusts his one guantlet and scarf.

He takes note of the ones that stayed behind and scoffs a bit before striding out of the room.

Tap, tap.

Tappa tap tap.

Tap.

Click.

Aaaand there. Email done... Hitabi and Hinoshi are doing their homework, and the babysitter is keeping an eye on them. I should be clear for a few hours, at least.

Closing the screen floating near her, Miko starts off through the hall- a small 'book' in her hands, still studying the specs of the pokemon she suspected to be in the opening block. She glances from side to side once in awhile, sizing up the competition as her eccentric haunter floats behind; rather easily recovering from her all-to-common login.

"Let's see... anyone interesting, Mohawk? If we're going for early allies, they might as well be fun ones.

Or at least smart..."

Somewhere in the back, a lone figure thinks quietly to itself

Well, it's begun. I'd say there's no turning back, but that's already been the case for quite some time now, hasn't it?

With that lone thought, a tron-lined trenchcoat and hood combination departs for the door, all bits of identity shrouded underneath the garb.

Except for gender, as it's pretty obvious what gender lies underneath the trenchcoat when looking at the chest. (perverts!)

The entrance hall at may not have felt like the real world... but it's when you exit that it becomes truly obvious.

The sky is black. There is no sun, no clouds, no moon, no stars. The foreign looking ground stretches out in front of you, but you can see a curved edge in the distance, rather than a horizon, and beyond it nothing but an inky void.

Around you are a series of grey nondescript building shaped objects. It almost looks like a city, if these had had any windows or doors.

In the distance, along void at the edge of this template city are a series of four arches with nothing on the other side of them. These are labeled 2, E, A, and 8, but the one labeled '8' has some kind of image of a blaze projected over it.

Most importantly, however, is dead ahead: a large billboard with a pair of lists running down it. Your battledex makes a small chime, indicating you can now download from these:

Pokemon Available:
Koffing - 8 DU
Drifloon - 8 DU
Pansear - 7 DU
Pansage - 7 DU
Panpour - 7 DU
Tediursa - 7 DU
Voltorb - 7 DU
Poochyena - 6 DU
Seel - 6 DU
Kriketot - 5 DU

Items Available:
Oran Berry - 2 DU
Persim Berry - 3 DU
Ground Gem - 6 DU
Soft Sand - 7 DU
Focus Sash - 8 DU

You have 50 DU remaining.

More trainers have hurried their way out, however some still remain. A girl with silver hair, a dark girl with white hair, and a boy in all black stand out among those that remain, though you think you might recognize a few faces from your gaming competitions in the rest of the crowd.

Lavender quickly scans over the available Pokemon and items. She takes Koffing, Drifblim, Pansear, Panpour. Voltorb, and Poochyena. She also chooses 3 Oran Berries.

She then sets off through the 2 arch, heading down Route 1-2.

Ringo starts drumming his fingers on his gauntlet as he looks at the selection. "Heh, a bit shrewd with the selection this time eh?"

He chooses a Koffing, Drifloon, Pansear, Voltorb, Seal, and Tediursa and three oran berries smiling beneath that ever flowing scarf, though the place was devoid of wind.

He heads over to the E gate.

Upon passing through the arch, you find not void but solid ground. The glowing edges of a path define themselves the further you get away from the arch. It winds in a relatively uncomplicated manner upwards, but you don't encounter anything most of the way; every other trainer is either behind you, or ahead of you and going the same direction.

Eventually, you reach a bit of a wider space as the path ends. You see a glowing holographic door on the side of a tower, but there's quite the crowd in front of it.

"Excuse me! Excuse me!" someone calls out to you, "Alicia Kent, DSN8. We have some questions we would like you to answer."

No one could understand the pain I feel from being in a world that is unfamiliar to me. The torment from being removed from all that I understand and being thrust into this competition surrounded by people of eccentricies such as this, Crimson Darkpetal thought to himself as his strolled without words or eye contact toward the boards outside.

"..."

Brevity in choices.

"But I wanted a Snorunt. I'll never have nice things."

With that, Crimson selects Drifloon, Panpour, Voltorb, Teddiursa, and Koffing, then three Oran Berries.

"...I feel like tacos."

Crimson devours an Oran Berry. It tastes like ones and zeroes, and he shakes his head slowly.

With that, he looks upon his routes.

"...Routes are supposed to have numbers. Route A and E are alone. Why is it E?" he wonders. "A is the first letter, but E is just...there..."

Crimson follows the lonely road, the only road that he as ever known.

E.

The boat is on the beach, so you don't need to swim to it. As you get in the boat, a gust of wind perks up, setting the boat off on its own. After a few moments you no longer see the beach, but you don't see any land on the far end, either.

You do, however, see what looks like two similar ships heading your way.
