So what do you think? Is alex right? Is it that he doesn't have a pure heart now, but did back then? Or does he have a pure heart now, but that doesn't mean what we think it means?

It's probably going to be that last one. By killing his inner evils, Alex seems to be getting better.

I like the theory that his heart was pure then. I mean, he was a kid at the time, right? Then again, a kid as the game Master? Doesn't quite make sense. But then again, this is Video Land. Making sense is hardly mandatory for ANTHING.

The problem I see with it being that his heart will become pure, is it doesn't seem that the Alex who is sitting the prison cell recounting the story is all that pure of heart.
But then this comic also involes Sailor Moon and in Sailor Moon season 3 purity of heart just meant passion, and Alex has that. |

Alex in the cell doesn't know he'll win. He is not arrogant. Alex in the cell doesn't hate Ryan as much as he should. He is not hateful. Alex in the cell has his cynicism tempered by a lack of self-doubt. He knows he's not dreaming. Alex in the cell points out Ryan's hypocrisies, and he holds thought-out beliefs. He is not hypocritical. Alex in the cell cares about Ryan enough to continue this story. He is not apathetic.
