Seriously... I don't remember ever talking about old skool PnP RPGs...

Anyway, I only bring it up because I'm talking to my friend who's a GM and wants me to rejoin his Champions campaign...

Anyone else do any old skool gaming?

Sunday is Exalted, Monday is Mage: the Awakening.

I am a total geek for pen and paper, although I know World of Darkness best. I ran a BESM campaign once that was bloody brilliant, which is actually the basis for my IAQ. So yeah. Yay PNP smile.gif

I would if there was anyone in my town decent enough, by that I mean a group of more than 4 people who would play DnD who aren't complete scumbags so that leaves about 3 people who I would want to play with. Down in Benning there was a guy that knew DnD by heart so we played down there.....Asshole made an Anti-orc door.

Erm... I have a ad&d 2nd players guide and a couple of other resources, but I havn't played a game since Middle School, and I never really got into PnPs. I lack the creativity for those sorts of things, although I know enough to read and enjoy Order of the Stick so I suppose the effort was worth it tongue.gif. http://www.giantitp.com/cgi-bin/GiantITP/ootscript

Shadowrun, bitches! Play it!

It's still my favorite P&P RPG by a long shot. There are a few others I'm interested in (World of Darkness, Call of Cthulhu, Fading Suns), but Shadowrun is both my favorite setting, and favorite rules system.

I personally endorse 3rd edition as the best version and setting of Shadowrun, but 4th edition has it's advantages and disadvantages.

I play D&D, I used to play a lot, but my group is currently "on hiatus."

Barf? kinda reminds me of the old FART joke. where every time your party enters a new room they have to see if the rogue has gas. (Fart. Find And Remove Traps)

Recently I was thinking about starting a thread here about making a CSNES D20 Modern campaign. Is anyone interested in helping (AKA Contributing) with a project like this?

Yes.

I have no doubt there is an online 'map' resource of some sort, and failing that, IRC makes a good medium for playing. If we could actually find a time for people to get together...

Never been a big fan of the D20 system. It triumphs in being relativly simple, but I've just never liked the playstyle it promotes as much.

Honestly, for something like a CSNES roleplay, BESM or something similar would be best. It's nearly 100% freeform, classless, etc. etc. The only thing ist hat character creation is a bit of a hassle, and I really really dislike the combat system.

Well, I'm using the D20 modern system because

1) Its adabtable. its the only system I know of that I can adequatly cram most the stuff of nexus together in.

2) its well known. most people already know the core D20 rules. FZ thats WHY I want to use D20 modern.

3) Its free! I can reference things from the books without getting my ass sued off me! HUZZAH

so I'd like to stikck with d20 modern. Here is the core rules if you need to brush up on them.

Kuraia I'm not a big fan of BESM on a whole... sorry.

Oh, I'm not saying D20 modern is bad, or not viable, but I was just trying to offer an alternative since FZ said he didn't like D20.

Also, I don't know /crap/ about D20, outside of 3.5rd D&D.

I've said this repeatedly, actually. tongue.gif

And I love the character creation system - the fact that you can pretty much be literally whatever you want (I can't think of a power that isn't in one of the existing rules, and there's rules for making new ones even if I could). The battle system is crap.

But if you promote anything other than revised second edition, you suck. tongue.gif

There used to be a D&D thread...

And I'm running a psionic D&D campaign at the moment. First time properly GMing...

Haha! I have support!

I also have the revised 2nd edition core book at my friend's apartment! I should go get that!

Yay!

I own the revised second edition core handbook, and it's right here.

Double HA.

I wish I had more of an opportunity to play... sad.gif

Well, I just think that BESM is TOO loose with the rules. it.... well it doesn't take itself seriously as a game.

What we can do is take some of the feats from BESM and convert them to d20 modern.

OR

we could make a BESM conversion after we have the core materials down. I'm all fine towards converting this thing to other game systems, but I want something to convert first.

Kura, that link I supplied is a link to the D20 Modern System Reference Document. its the D20 rules.all of them.

BESM was converted to D20. It's called, originally enough, D20 BESM.

I don't like it.

And of course BESM doesn't take itself serious as a game. It's not serious as a game. It's ANIME BASED.

Well, I would just like to work with something more solid and less, as Vortex would put it, Nebulous.
