I'm getting a real Dragon-Half vibe from it, to be honest. I liked Dragon-Half, so that's not a bad thing, but yeah.

Well a lot of anime can legitimately look very similar.

Magic Knights Rayearth... well its similar to other very early CLAMP stuff but that's about it...

I think it's the abundant use of chibis that make me think that, but again, I've only watched two episodes. I'll probably watch a few more tomorrow.

I don't think I made it much past the filler arc into stuff happening that matters on that one.

I know Future Diary was a huge thing over here as the comic was coming to a close; is anyone here watching the cartoon?

Gotta love it when an anime based on a dating sim doesn't hide the fact that the two characters wind up having sex.

Sure, they don't actually SHOW it, and the scene suddenly shifting from them confessing to seeing them in bed is a bit surprising, but it's still a nice touch.

EDIT: I think the idea for the character Nova came about when one of the writers suffered a really bad break-up with a crazy ex or something. Seriously.

Powered through the second season of Magic Knight Rayearth. It wasn't too bad, 'though there were some things that bugged me about it. Aside from an obscene number of characters afflicted with the Noble Women's Laugh (LADY ASKA...! *shakes fist*), most everyone also had Solid Snake Syndrome ("Metal Gear?!"). I understand the need to have characters repeat dramatic statements every now and then, but seriously... it was like a couple of times each episode.

They might not have meant for her to be, but I think Nova was probably the creepiest villain I've ever seen in anything. Sure, some horror movies might have worse, but at the same time, you go into those kind of expecting that. Not so much in a story about three fourteen year old girls in a land where the strength of the heart decides all.

I did like how they did some of the plot twists/resolutions, though...

Fuu: Yeah... it's well, pretty shitty, really.

But yeah. Overall it wasn't too bad. I wouldn't rate it as one of my favorite, but I wouldn't consider it time wasted... even if it did make me yell at the screen a few times.

So I'm rewatching Code Geass.

Apparently the owners needed some cash to fund the Blu-ray version since instead of just having one character eat pizza constantly while cuddling Pizza Hut's mascot, every episode's had Pizza Hut ads or boxes inserted into them so far :L

I finished Divergence Eve and Misaki Chronicles. I found it to be... a pretty decent series. It's not the best or anything, but I didn't really find it to be utter crap, either. (But again, I'm pretty hard to displease.) It has a fair amount of fan service in it (and a surprising amount of nudity for something rated TV-14, 'though there's definitely more in DE than MC), and while the story kind of goes a little wonky at times (there's time travel, parallel universes, giant unintelligible space monsters... some of this shit probably requires more than one watch to fully understand what the hell they're talking about at times), it's still not too bad overall.

I realize "there are worse things to watch" isn't exactly a glowing recommendation, but eh.

I have a few anime series that are rated TV-14 and show off a lot more tits than I would personally give a TV-14 rating for (the ToLoveRu series being the main example, here).

*Shakes head* What's the world coming to, thinking it's okay for a 14 year old to see boobs.

I watched Outlanders a little bit ago; it's a fun, short movie. Quite a bit more violent than I was expecting ('though most of that was in the beginning), but had a lot of the charm from old school anime.

I also started Princess Resurrection. I read the manga not too long ago, and found a copy of the dubbed version for a fairly decent deal (especially after applying a $10 gift card). While they do make some changes right off the bat from the manga, I'll admit it sssort of works, given the context of the royal family and all. I imagine it was mostly done to keep the rating at a PG level, which just seems... weird to do. At any rate, the first episode was pretty good.

Won't somebody please think of the children!

Speaking as somebody who reads the manga as a guilty pleasure, I think its less the boobs and more the sexual harassment played for laughs (as in, gropings aplenty by love interests and non-love-interests alike, and at least one incident where the protagonist trips, falls on one of his more tsundere love interests, gets her panties caught in his teeth, and drags them off as he falls).

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that a lotta Japanese bookstores will only stock the tankobon for that manga in the "adult" section. While an argument can be made its acceptable for 14 year-olds to see, its also the very same argument that 14-year-olds should have unrestricted access to softcore pornography.

Finished Princess Resurrection, it was... okay. It wasn't necessarily bad per se, but the manga is a lot better. I think most of the changes they made were to give it a PG rating (which I still don't understand since the manga is violent), but there are a couple that they could have had in, but didn't; like the blood warrior's ability to sense when their master is in danger. The fact they didn't include that cost Hiro just about all of his badass scenes from the manga.

Anyway... like I said, it wasn't really bad... it just could have been so much better. Hime's voice was pretty much exactly how I pictured it, though.

I think I'm going to watch Summer Wars and maybe Nausicaä before moving onto the next series... either Trigun or All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku. After those, maybe The Galaxy Express 999 Movies, but I'm getting way ahead of myself.

Oh, that spindle thing? Yeah, it's a real annoying way of doing it; I can't really believe it saves them that much money, either.

EDIT: Actually, if you prefer/don't mind subs, you can get the separate seasons of the subbed only for $8 each through Right Stuf.

I'm so used to subs from watching fansubs that I don't bother with English dubs. Nothing against them, just never bother anymore. There are exceptions, however. Like with shows that I actually watched in English back when I was younger, like the Legend of the Mystical Ninja anime.

I know a lot of people are that way, and honestly, for $16 that's not a bad deal for the series. I just wish the manga would get fully translated, but seeing as how they only have the first seven (out of 15 or 16) stateside and the last one came out in 2009, I kind of doubt it.

EDIT: Holy Jesus fucking Fuck, Summer Wars is really damn good. The animation, the story, the characters... it was great! I think I'm going to have to pick up a copy on Blu-Ray now. If you've never seen it before, I seriously recommend it. I normally don't ever push things just because a) sometimes it's kind of annoying when people do that, b) I realize the shit I like tends to go way under the bar of other people's standards, and c) people probably shouldn't know about some of the shit I watch-

-but I think this is one really worth checking out. It tends to go for pretty cheap, too. I bought it off of Amazon for $11 (it's $13.50 at the moment, the Blu-Ray for $15.50), and considering most movies go for $20 to $25, that's not bad at all. But yeah. Really good movie.
