I've been meaning to check out Summer Wars, but I haven't yet. Eventually...

That said, another exception to the Japanese voices thing is/will be the Persona 4 anime. After playing the game with the English voices I don't really care about the Japanese ones that much.

...Mostly because Rise is voiced by a shrieking banshee.

It looks like it'll probably be pretty funny, but it's also really god damn bizarre. It's also very clearly from the 90's in animation style (which is something I honestly like). Anyway, I'll be seeing where this one is going.

...I now know what anime you're going to have to bring next time. I must see this.

Sword of the Stranger was pretty fun.

I especially liked the fights.

So, back in January when I built my new computer, I got a blu-ray burner to go with it, 'cause... they've gone down in price and they're pretty much the way of the future (and my dvd burner was stuck in the old tower), so I've started building a blu-ray collection. Of course, I still hadn't watched any of them since my TV was only 720 resolution, and-

Yes, I know. I'm getting to it.

"Yeah, yeah, you finally got your TV hooked up and you watched something, right?"

If you want a truncated version of the story, yes.

"So what did you watch? Ponyo, to see a Studio Ghibli in glorious 1080 dpi? Or perhaps, Spice and Wolf, to follow the story of a merchant and harvest goddess? Maybe the Cowboy Be-"

Shut up. The setting is about how Japan has always been protected by Master Samurai (shown cutting fighter planes apart with katanas and naginatas), lead by Generals. The main character of the story finds out he has the power of a General and can turn girls into Master Samurai... by giving them a kiss. The show is... pretty sexually charged and has a lot of bare breasts, but even with that, it tells a pretty decent story. I think they manage to make the main character a good balance of badass and "argh girls what the fuck" so he's not a total pushover, but not some suave motherfucker. The art style is pretty damn beautiful, espeically in the full 1080 dpi.

...yes, the tits also look really damn good in hd. I'm just sayin' that 'cause if I don't, that'll be the first/only comment made.

While I wouldn't say that the going price of $40 is all that great of a buy (it's only 12 episodes, after all), if you like harem series and can get it for $30 or under, I'd say go for it. (And something to remember with blu-ray is they're supposed to be much safer to buy second-hand as they're much harder to scretch.) It's a pretty fun show and has some great lines like "you big-foreheaded bitch!" I don't regret buying it, anyway.

Man, I really gotta stop thinking too deep into the serious scenes.

I mean, really, what could have stopped Goku from just letting go of Cell and using Instant Transmission after taking him to King Kai's planet?

Why didn't Goku bring him to Snake Way instead? Or HFIL?

He has to lock on to someone to use that teleport.

HFIL has tons of people in it! And wasn't there some dope on Snake Way? It's been forever since I saw non-kai DBZ.

What was the difference between Kai and non Kai DBZ anyway... I tried turning on Kai one day and it looked like a scene from the 80s animation.

Kai is actual DBZ abridged, with many scenes and some entire episodes cut to improve pacing.

Kai cuts out a lot of the filler that the original DBZ anime had, and is more true to the manga.

And does better than the 1-chapter-1-episode dragged pacing nightmare that was a show trying to avoid leaping ahead of the manga.

Dog Days' second season has started.

This show never fails to make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

This show... is really damn silly.

huh... that... looks very interesting.

It's a fun show. I'd personally recommend it.
