except for the "fairly odd parents." Cosmo and Wanda are pretty much the best fictional couple ever.

Ah, you forgot the part about getting into a vicious cycle where you're too depressed/shy/afraid to talk to a girl, and watch as she develops a relationship with someone else, making you more depressed/shy/afraid for the next girl, etc. etc. ad nauseum.

Not really, as I've never been in that cycle.

Every girl I've ever liked and new was bent my way I've talked to.

sorry. "girls" is kind of specific. "people" could be vague.

I guess what I'm saying is that the "become friends first, lovers later" thing has its flaws! Namely, your pool of friends is limited, and does not grow nearly so fast as your pool of acquaintances.

But when your acquaintances pool doesn't grow, either, or if you agree with the contention that friends make the best significant others (something I do), then a lot of the time you sit there and watch the world turn around, because everyone you know is either taken or courting someone else.

By "eating a candybar" he obviously means "masturbation".

I personally do not ever recommend dating a friend. EVER.

Take a note from me, not a road you ever wanna go down. *shudder*

Oh, I'm on that road. I ended up confusing the hell out of her so now she doesn't even know what she really wants. There's something there, but I don't know how it'll develop.

I really need to channel my anger at this shit somehow.

I'm gonna go against everybody here for a second.

After reading through this all I can say is....the fuck?

It is not that hard to find somebody, doesn't even have to be somebody special, could just be a fuck-buddy. Honestly, what have you got to lose if you try? Absolutely nothing.

Embarassment?

What's more embarassing? Being single till you're forty or talking to a girl?

Yeesh.

He's not saying it is. He's just pointing out another way to look at it, so you CAN overcome it eventually.

Tact only goes so far. When tact is failing to get the job done, sometimes you just need to start smacking people upside the head.

I always like how it's so easy for social, assertive people to tell shy people how much they suck.

You know, the shy person is probably saying the same thing to his/herself all the time, you really don't have to.

I would try to give advice on this, but I am one of those shy people, I have asked girls out most of it was spur of the moment.

I have problems. I'm at the point in life in which there are A. Only a few girls that are interested in the same things as me, and the ones that are like other guys, and I don't know wheather or not they have boyfriends yet, and B. The reason they like other guys is the reason most girls don't like me. The mass of fat that makes me similar to Kirby in shape.

That and I'm shy around girls.
