Hey all, most of you don't know this about me, but at my University I've founded a club that acts as an alternative to all the drinking and substance abuse on campus, as well as the infrequent, mainstream activites provided by the campus entertainment network (which also gets 70% of the budgeting for all clubs). That said, "losers club" as it's charmingly called by it's members usually boils down to such activities as anime, scifi, and nostalgic marathons, and video and tabletop gaming tournament / free play. I generally like to have a theme to each evening, so what I was wonder was if you guys have any suggestions for activites, events, or purchases, please lemme know. Also, visit if you have a sec, visit the club website and lemme know what I can do to improve it.

Many thanks in advance!

Why stop with pants? Get rid of everything!

Edit: So, whatever happened to Serious? And for that matter, this is my first post in this Sub-Forum, yay!

Then it would be the Naked Club!

By the way, is it called the "Loosers Club" or "Losers Club?" Because "to loose" means to release or detach, while "to lose" means to mislay or fail. Considering the context, I think you mean to call it the "Losers Club." If it's just a typo or a joke, then ignore me. If it isn't, then as a college student, you really need at least a small dictionary.

How about Trivia Competitions? Gather up "Simpsons" trivia and quiz those who claim to possess the most intimate knowledge of the show. First prize can be a DVD box set of "The Simpsons" or a Simpsons poster or whatever else pertains to the show. Or you can do another show-you get the idea.

In all fairness, I made this topic inbetween two papers, so my head was kinda frazzled Dooshatoe (your comment made me sad sad.gif , but it is true). Thanks for all the suggestions though guys. What do you think of the banner one of our members made for us for a contest?

I'm sorry! I didn't mean to make you sad! Curse my grammatical nitpicking! Seriously, I'm not trying to shoot you down or anything, I just thought you should know. You could continue to call it "Loosers Club" as a joke, but then you'd get half a dozen wiseacres each year pointing it out. It'd get really old after a while.

As for the banner, it's awesome. It's like an explosion of nerdiness (nerd, for me, being a term of affection-for as they say in the Bible, "the geek shall inherit the earth tongue.gif ")! I would point out that anyone who's not familiar with the Japanese style of writing would probably be confused by the right-to-left and up-to-down words "Alternative Entertainment," and would read it as "Entertainment Alternative," but that would be nitpicking again, wouldn't it? Yes, it would. Like I said before, it looks great.

Walk out into a crowded sidewalk and shout "MORTAL KOMBAT" and then stage a show with your friends dressed as various characters from said game dry2.gif

Hell that would be fun with just about any game.

You could go around with one arm tucked into your shirt, not shave for a day or two to give that rough look and scowl at people saying "This is my story and you're not in it."

You could stand on a wall in the dark and ask people "do you believe in french toast?"

--------------------
Well, you know how college is. You're sitting there in your dorm room wearing nothing but your panties and a t-shirt that's far too tight, doing your advanced calculus homework, and your super-hot roommate who you've got a huge crush on comes in and says that the engineering student down the hall needs some help with a practical example of the benefits of flexibility in architecture, and the next thing you know you're making the beast with twelve backs and you've somehow increased a bust size.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I was wondering if I could get your input on something else...

This is an award for our monthly gaming tournaments, and I was wondering what else I could do to make it look cool but still official-like. I wanted to put a pick of Captain N shooting his Zapper (or some other actiony pose) inbetween the signatures, but I can't find anything that works. Anyone wanna help?

Re: Certificate

For a background base, Google image search appears to have a bunch of certificates on it that you could stea use actually, yeah, steal, and www.certificatecreator.com appears to have some free offerings.

For the text, I'd suggest using a different font. Times and stuff like that works for genericness, and my old favorite Fixedsys works great with the Ye Olde Viddeo Game theme.

Re: Club

I know budding physicists aren't really a representative sample, but Smash Bros. seems to be quite the rage in my current cohort, even ones who I wouldn't peg as video gamers. I'm guessing this is already being played, but hey, if not, free idea!

Also, if you don't have any reason to avoid encouraging gambling, poker seems to be really popular, but that might be one of those things that people do when under the intoxication of various beverages. Also, if people actually are derisive about your club being loserly, poker is pretty ungeeky, so that might help there, too?

If the game is Smash Bros, you should have a different certificate depending on the character the winner used.

This one's from a webcomic I don't remember the name of, but someone here linked it. I'm using it as my wallpaper now.
