Okay, we've moved our site to a new server, I've designed a new favicon, and things are moving along smoothly as far as story creation goes. We are also working on a new site design using the comicpress plugin thingie for wordpress. To see what it's looking like now, check this out. This is a NON-FUNCTIONING png file, so don't try clicking on it. You'll just look stupid.
This isn't going to be its final format by any stretch of the imagination. We're still in the process of finding out how all of this works, and going through the process of renaming files so they'll be compatible with the file format. While we're doing that however, I could use some help with tags. We need to figure out what tags we'll be using for the comic. After we decide on the tags, we need people to go through and figure out which comics need which tags. For right now, I'm opening it up for discussion. Obviously we want a tag for Story comics, for Good morning videoland, and for guest comics. What else do we want? Character tags? Location tags? Let's here what people have to say. Edit: This topic will stay pinned until we get to a point where we got our tag situation under control. Current Categories: CSNES (Story comics) Backstage Guest CSNES tags so far: Alex Anne Robinson Fat ChoFFIV Kain Palom Porom Filler G.A.I.D.E.N. Guest Filler Good Morning Videoland Lonely Cell Super Magus Bro Story Nexus Desert Chrono Trigger Lots more |

A non-filler tag.
A tag for how many flashbacks deep it is: one for the cell, one for regular storyline, one for Max Force, Ryan KaBoom!, Alex's recurring clown dream, and any other nested stories (because these flashbacks aren't going to overlap, might as well go from one to the next) Also tags for other characters that either lead a storyline, or are popular, or aren't important but might serve as a red herring since you're tagging important stuff. Alex (narration doesn't count), Marle, Gato, backwards talking people/SoS, the ordinary cat, Magus, Rock, Bob, Epoch, Samus, The Drab Lord. A tag per game world, I can think of: Chrono Trigger, FF4, Nexus, Desert, IN SPACE (because thar be crossovers that don't involve a world IN SPACE), Super Mario World, and eventually FF6. But, seriously, a non filler tag, an Alex tag, and a way to skip the nested Max Force flashback would be helpful, the rest of those tags are kinda wishful thinking. -------------------- At any given moment it's hard to remember the headspace of every other given moment. But I live in space a lot.

What do you mean by non-filler tag?
Do you mean "Official Captain SNES Story continuity?" Edit: I'm not gonna call it that, by the way. |

Yeah, it would be... interesting to see what would happen if someone went and compiled everything we "know" in the comic. And tried to make sense of the continuity... Like the comparative timing of certain events, given what we know for a fact.
Because a lot of the events shown throughout seem to be occuring at roughly the exact same time. It would probably be a good idea to have locations featured in the comic as tags. At least, major areas. Be as general as possible, like, the world of "Chrono Trigger" could be an area to itself. -------------------- That which holds the image of an angel...

Yes. I mean that which neither breaks the 4th wall, nor was written by guests, nor is about Captain Atari or otherwise has nothing to do with the main story you are telling through Alex's flashback and some arguments in a jail cell.

That may actually being a category, rather than a tag. Once I figure out how categories and tags work. But being able to isolate storyline comics is an extremely high priority for this project. Probably the highest priority.

Tag: Nexus, Desert, Chrono Trigger, FFIV, Lonely Cell (These are by no means exhaustive lists, just examples.) As for isolating story comics, simply tagging them as "Story" easily solves that problem. Tagging main characters is also a likely idea. -------------------- Bleep! Expletive deleted. Bleepity-bleep-bleep. Frak!

I'd tag inner evils as a group and possibly Touched characters as well.

That's an idea. I'll sleep on it.
So far, I've been very pleased with this new comicpress format. It's much less of a pain in the ass than the text format that I was using before. Mind you, it's going to take a while to fill everything out on the backend, especially since I don't want to lose a ton of comic making time to this, but I feel pretty confident that this is a beneficial change. |

Well, I'm sure people would love to help you. One person could go through each comic, tag all the characters in it. Someone else could tag which storyline it belongs too, and someone else could tag where the comic is set, probably two settings where possible (Royal Gate, Nexus; Mysidia, FFIV; World 8-3, Super Mario World). As this means alot of tags, I'd suggest not differentiating between, let's say, Royal Gate and Broken Gate. It'll save time.
Every character in Where Are They Now? probably needs tagging. Gameworlds (Super Mario World!, Chronos, FFIV, Nexus), probably the storyline names you already use (Storming the Fantasy, Super Magus Bros., Marle's Misadventures in Nexus) -------------------- "The eagles who soar through the sky are at rest And the creatures who crawl, run, and creep. I know you're not thirsty. That's bullshit. Stop lying. Lie the fuck down, my darling, and sleep. - Go the Fuck to Sleep "Yeah, well. We're building a bomb. You do the opposite of what the warning labels say." - Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe |

Well, after a little bit experimentation, it looks like there is a way to have other people edit tags after I post up the comics. I'll still need to post the entry, so it has my author tag, but I don't have to put any tags in when I do, which should speed things up a fair amount. So... I thinking that in the interest of speeding things up I'm going to put the entries in fairly bareboned, so we can launch the new design. I'm absolutely not confident about this (since I've tagged all of Act I, with a few errors), but it seems like a decent way to get this up as fast as possible without it eating up enormous amounts of time. Also, I'm going to have any of our guest comic contributers do the entries for their comics (you know who you are, and you should contact me). It'll save me time, and it'll make sure your entries have the comments you want them to have.
This plan is tentative right now, as I haven't discussed it with knight, but it seems like a decent way to get things done as quick as possible. Even without tags, the CSNES, Guest, and Backstage categories separate story comics from the filler and guest comics. Give me some feedback. Edit: I will probably pick the Tag Editors myself, using my own... mysterious methods. BWA HA HA. |

My own mysterious method seems to be to let a year+ pass before I do anything.
Okay, rather than going through and tagging everything, I'm interested in two tags in particular. Eggplant Wizard, and King Hippo. Need a list of all the comics they appear in. Hoping to work on upgrading their sprite in those comics after i finish up this part of the story. |
