New York City, central point of almost all key activity within the Universe. The weather is overcast, and the wind is blowing from west to east.

Recently, a drug called "ReNew" has begun to appear on the streets, which causes mutations in normal teenagers. Its origins are a mystery, but there are many stories and rumour circulating the media. Criminal mutants are suspected by the press, but as yet, there is no evidence to suggest whether they are guilty or not.

Other than this, it has been a relatively slow news week.

Tamarine, a young teenage girl, walked though the streets of NYC. She pressed her arms against her sides, shoving them in one of her many pockets in her pants. The wind was cold to day. Her black hair whipped her in the face, strands of teal where she had streaked them, blinded her as she walked.

Finding a small ally between two buildings, she ducked between them to warm her self up a bit and adjust her hair under her news boy cap.

Luptonius was out around back of the club reading the paper. Tonight's show was going to be hot... The sound check was over and dress rehearsal just got out. Luptonius quickly turned to the entertainment section to see how big of a write up his show had received.

The write up was minor, but favourable. The majority of the entertainment section was devoted to a band that was rumoured to be using ReNew in an effort to be edgy. The review of them is unfavourable, and condemns the example they are setting. However, it takes up a large bulk of the section, even distracting from the favourable review Luptonius received.

William Pastor was looking over a few standard financial files, when he frowned. Something wasn't quite right here. The executive placed his hand over the special port on his cable modem. Flowing his consciousness into the connection, William quickly found the intruder who was trying to steal the records and directed a surge in his direction, interrupting the thief's connection and knocking him unconscious. (8 stones! BAM!)

A quick search revealed that his body was in a nearby internet cafe, so William Pastor brought himself fully back into his body and unplugged himself from the wall, coiling up the cord and putting it in his briefcase. This done, he informed his secretary that he'd be out, and headed downstairs and out the door to collect the thief and bring him to the police.

Well, you know how college is. You're sitting there in your dorm room wearing nothing but your panties and a t-shirt that's far too tight, doing your advanced calculus homework, and your super-hot roommate who you've got a huge crush on comes in and says that the engineering student down the hall needs some help with a practical example of the benefits of flexibility in architecture, and the next thing you know you're making the beast with twelve backs and you've somehow increased a bust size.

As he arrived outside the cafe, he noticed two youths carrying an obviously dazed friend outside. Oddly, one of them had an elongated snout in place of a nose, while the other had scaly skin. They appeared very concerned about the wellbeing of their friend, and as William got closer, he could hear that they were resisting attempts to contact an ambulance.

The commotion had attracted a great deal of attention.

A smirk landed on luptonius's lips as he reached in his pocket for his cell phone... "Never hurts to get good press" he thought to himself... The concert was at 10, evening news at 6.... Perfect.

"Murray? call the driver, I'm going clubbing... And have him bring the Fender... you know the one."

Tamarine rubbed her hands together to keep warm. It wasn't terribly cold out, but enough with the wind to make the girl not want to move from the ally.

~Ada. It's cold out here.~ She thought to her self... or rather she electronically sent to a small PDA that. nestled into one of her pockets on her belt.

~I can not register the feeling...cold... the temperature is normal for this time of year.~ A female electronic voice registered in the young girl's mind.

"Damn AI...." She muttered to her self. ~I'm going to attempt to log on to the net, and find a place to recharge.~

The girl's gray eyes began to shine green, if you got close enough you could see the binary date stream pass in her eyes. To here she could see all the data circling around her. A map pulled up in front her with red markers in various places. She she reached for one, the map fizzled away. The girl's eye returned to normal. "We're getting interception..." She asked in a puzzled tone. "The Data should still be there... I don't understand."

~There is a cafe near by perhaps we should check it out.~ The woman's voice suggested.

Tamarine sighed and made her way out of the ally again.

William sighed. It wouldn't be too difficult to delay these two.

William dialed 911, said that a thief had fallen into a coma at the cafe, and immediately hung up, not taking his phone out of his pocket. Hopefully a police cruiser and an ambulance would arrive fairly quickly.

"Excuse me, is your friend alright? Can I help?"

The longer it took for them to leave, the higher the chances of the thief being properly apprehended.

Predictably, of course, as soon as he walked up to the area, the "pure" humans nearby shied away, unwilling to be too close to the plastic freak. Not that he could particularly blame them. He didn't even eat anymore. He had up until last month, but when his sense of taste went away, he had stopped seeing the point, and switched over to using power outlets full time, unless he needed to "conduct repairs".

"Wow, hey man! How much ReNew did you take? Man, I can't wait until I'm that much better than everyone else!"

Either he didn't notice William's reaction to that statement, or he didn't care, as he continued in a hushed tone.

"Listen, man, it would be really great if you could help us hide out for a bit. We'll let you have a share of our stash! Just keep us out of sight of the Homo-Inferior for a bit, ya dig?"

===================================

As Tamarine turned the corner, she saw a man that appeared to be made of plastic approaching two teenagers helping a friend out of the cafe. All three had strange physical mutations, and the normal humans in the area were giving all four a wide berth.

====================================

Luptonius had no trouble whatsoever getting his tickets. All he had to do now was wait. Apparently, the band was playing at Club Noir tonight.

~Ada... I think we should try some where else...~ The girl thought in a panicked voice.

She had stopped in front of the crowd of on lookers and as she backed up, backed into people who though afraid, were still trying to catch a view. ~Not good, not good.~

~What is happening?~

~I'll up load what I'm seeing~ She said as she put her hand on the PDA.

The girls eyes flickered green again as it tried to hard to record the information in front of her.

She subconsciously pulled her goggles over her eyes. Like glasses everything seemed to become more clear.

Making the God of rock buy a ticket, it was enough to give a person hives. Luptonius steped up to the door of the club. holding his Ax, now was the time to strike. He checked the levels under his arm, pluged in the guitar and began playing a riff from one of his older albums, "Calling All Devils"

Jasper sighed as he strollled down the street. He always felt so vulnerable like this, just another face in the crowd. He looked behind him. The person had his hand in his coat pocket. He could have a gun, or a knife, or..

Jasper shook his head. He was being paranoid. No one even knew his face.

Besides, he had the sword hidden under his trenchcoat, and he'd like to see someone take him out while he had that.

He passed a newspaper stand, and brought a paper, all too aware that threy would be nothing of interest.

Still, one day he'd pick something up from there, wouldn't he?

Gadget mentally shook his head. He hated the bad image some mutants liked to give to the rest of the bunch. "Well, I might have a place to crash for a time, but I'm gonna need to know why you're hiding first. I don't need the cops after me for something I don't even know about, you know?"

Something tickled at the edge of his mind, and he glanced around the crowd, his eyes resting on a pair of goggles for a moment before he turned back to the teens before him.

Gadgetsoft {14:01}: Hello, would you mind helping me help the police?

"Typical rubbish", muttered Jasper. The only thing interesting was the ReNew, but he had heard about that already. The paper was always behind the times.

He tossed it into the trash can, then turned into the nearby grocery store. He brought enogu food for the next few days, paying with his credit card, then started back towards the apartment.

Sam Marloe sat in his office, thinking about how slow business has been the last week. He hadn't even managed to find any leads about this new ReNew drug out on the streets last night.

He got up, told his secretary that he was heading out for coffee, and left for the coffee stand down the street, and bought a paper while he was there. As he was walking back, he noticed what was happening at the cafe.

This should be interesting, he thought to himself, as he folded the paper under his arm and leaned against a nearby wall to watch.

The message came as a surprise that nearly knocked her on her butt.

Orionschild18 {14:02}: H-How did you get this address, this is a privet server! How did you find me!

The girl's thought are panicky and scattered as she looks around for a place to escape.

Orionschild18 {14:03}: Ada! Ada! Help, How did he get in, I don't understand what's going on! Who are you?

Gadgetsoft {14:03}: Calm down; you're drawing attention to yourself. I truthfully don't have your address, just line of sight. As for who I am, and what's going on, I'm a fellow citizen of the cyberways, and I'm trying to apprehend a thief who wanted my files.
Gadgetsoft {14:03}: I figure that getting cyberthieves out of the way makes all us computer types safer, right?

"theres a devil inside us, inside of us all"

Luptonius was singing

"Theres a devil inside us, come hear the call"

Singing loudly

"There's a devil inside us come hear my words"

in a way that would attract attention, lots and lots of attention

"It's time to break down those doors, Rock"
