I was gonna post my "Evil Mirror Kevin was Princess Hope's father" theory in the "Unholy Trinity" thread, but it'd fit in this one too at this point. Yes, essentially it's the same one from Buzz, but I've altered a few things at the end. Also explains why Captain N decided not to fight anymore and let the N-Forcers do the dirty work.
  • We know that long before the Great Change, Simone Belmont literally booted Captain N through a one-way warp into the Mirror World. King Charles allegedly sacrificed himself to get Cap out of there.
  • BUT we also know from cartoon canon that when someone goes into the Mirror World, his/her "Mirror Image Opposite" automatically goes out into regular Videoland. Yes, I know it was a one-way warp, but there needs to be a balance, as King Charles found out the hard way at the end of the episode "In Search of the King".
  • Therefore, the Captain N who appeared to Lana and Simone could have really been Evil Captain N from the Mirror World. King Charles' "sacrifice" could have been nothing more than a lie to cover his tracks and get rid of Simone. Simone had probably fled from the "scene of the crime" as soon as the job was done.
  • This would of course mean that Evil Captain N, NOT the true Captain N, married Lana and sired the princess President Ronnie and Karnov refer to. And being evil, of course he wouldn't have been fighting bad guys anymore, they're on the same side! "Too busy raising my daughter" could have just been the excuse he gave.
  • This fits in with the "Captain N's the Watcher and in the mirror" theory because the true Captain N would still be in the Mirror World. Granted, the "queen and her champion died," as the voices from the desert said. We don't know if they really meant Captain N was that champion, however, since they don't remember names. Or whether or not when a counterpart on one side of the Mirror dies, so does the other...

Another thing that bugs me about Simone though...he was expelled from the kingdom, aye? Isn't ALL of Videoland Lana's kingdom? Where the hell did he go to?

Hm... would the Mirror World have an opposite for Kevin? He's not originally from Videoland, so he might not have one. (I've only seen one Captain N cartoon, so I don't know if that's been answered in the series or not.) That's about the only thing I can think of to counter it.

...Hey! Maybe the Wily in Nexus is a Mirror Wily! That might explain why he's working with Light. I have no proof, but it's just a thought.

Hmm.. she could have just meant the Videoworld the Palace of Power and Video City/Nexus were//are on.

And I just thought of something else in light of Kwirk's fable about how Captain N was the one who summoned the Sovereign: What if he was right about that, but only because the summoner was Evil Captain N ala my above theory?

EDIT:
Captain N did, Car. In the episode I'm referrencing canon from, "In Search of the King". Tried to download it from Kazaalite once, it never finished. And interesting point about Wily. Unless it's the Wily we all love to hate only playing goody-goody until he gets a chance to take over.

Nor do we know it they were talking literally or not. They couldvery well have meant that kevin "died" because he was no longer around.

As for the Soverign being Evil kevin, it was always my idea that she could have been Mirror Hope. The opposite of Hope is Sorrow, right? (more or less)

"Died" sounds pretty clear-cut to me, Alan. I'd say they were speaking literally. They could have been WRONG or LYING, but I'm pretty sure they meant DEAD.

I didn't say she WAS Evil Kevin. I said she could have been summoned by him. Mirror Hope? Interesting theory...

Little late and off topic, but I want to point something out.

QUOTE (MechaV @ Dec 21 2004, 12:38 PM)
Simone took Kevin to the entrance BEFORE the Great Change...the Lunarian Moon didn't exsist until afterwords.

Final Fantasy IV was originally being made for Nes near the start of SNES's life. Though it was never actually released on Nes, I'm sure there could have been a small beta or two.

Perhaps the early developments of FFIV could have caused it to exist Pre-Great Change?

I still think the Soverign is one of Kevin's Inner Evils... It was sealed away and since Kevin doesn't seem to be around anymore I needs to have a new "body" which explains why the Sovereign is not worried about Alex, and it also explains Bob's secrecy, and the fact that Wily and Light are willing to Kill Alex if he is unable to get himself out of his current situation

this would mean...

Alex may be the only one able to defeat the Soverign

Bob's job is to tail Alex and make sure he makes it to defeating the soverign, while still keeping him the hell away from the shard and mask.

Light and Wily dont want to see the tragedys of the past repeat, so if anything even begins to look amiss they will blast first and ask questions later....
