There were a bunch of posts in the intro thread that got deleted.

It was mostly spam as far as the intro thread is concerned, however.

Where did you see anything like that? I've looked, and I can't find any rules regarding alts at all.

The fact that an alt just introduced himself, Mordain's immediate response was something about alerting the ban-Mafia or whatever, and all the posts regarding it or talking abpout alts in general suddenly disappeared.

That's only for BANNED members who try to come back with alts. Like Hecton. Like Red Pipes.


Though, keep in mind alts that YOU guys make ARE frowned upon.

Come on, guys. It's common sense. Before you do it, at LEAST clear it with one of the mods.

You guys need to make a list of things you do frown upon since you are the ones who have the ultimate say in what's apparently allowed.

What IS frowned upon is common sense. If you THINK about it.

I mean, come on. Most alts just end up being annoying. Or pointless. Remember Newb's "I never wanna have 1000 posts" phase?

We're not tyrants fer christ's sake. If you've got a good reason for having an alt, we'll let it go.

You want to make it a rule. Fine. Make it a rule. I'll still bitch about it, like people bitched to me when I tried to enforce the rules JayDee gave us to follow back on Buzz, but at least it'll be a rule.

You want to pull stuff out of nowhere, ban the things without warning, and delete all post pertaining to it because you personally don't like it? That's crap and somebody's got some appologizin' to do.

But... Captain Obvious would log on and post whenever we call someone Captian Obvious. Isn't funny a good reason? I mean, I assume that's what Captain Obvious would do. I certainly am not the one with a plan to use that account.

Atleast we still have Master of the obvious to count on.

Now someone go clear an Alt account of that name with Knight, it needs to happen.

There is absolutely no point in having an alt for the sole purpose of repeating things loudly. It's not humorous, it by nature is incapable of contributing anything to any discussion, since it can just repeat what is already blatantly obvious and/or has already been stated.

The spam in the intro thread was deleted because it was spam. Spam is *always* and always *has* been deleted from the intro thread.

So, the job of a mod includes choosing what is and isn't funny now as well?

Second: No one owes ANYONE an apology. Untwist your knickers and move on.

Third: You want it to be a rule? Seriously? I thought that "no annoying alts" would be common sense and good ettiqute. I guess I was wrong.

Fourth: I'm sorry you had such a shitty time as Admin/Mod. I really am. But you can't keep bringing it up every time you have issues with how this place is run.

Asking somebody to be nice is one thing. Enforcing rules that don't even exist is another.

So... we should document every unwritten rule around here?

I think what Alan's shooting at here isn't that you should actually write down every tiny little rule you can think of so we have it as proof, but rather that we shouldn't bother having little rules like that in the first place.

All I'm saying here is that if something is wrong, banning accounts and deleting posts probably shouldn't be the first step you take.

And if you're going to get rid of an account because it's annoying, shouldn't you actually take time to let it post so you can tell whether it's going to be annoying or not?
