Okay, so.

Seems Digimon is dead, or at least in a coma. So I'm moving onto another idea of mine.

Dot Hack is a rather well known series of games, but for those who need a quick rundown;

It's an RPG set in a (fake) MMORPG. Basically, screwy stuff happens and people start to fall into comas, getting stuck online, and so on. It's a fiar bit towards virtual reality in some ways.

This idea of mine is based on the events in The World R:X, but before LINK.

For those who don't know what that means, well, here: A wiki for you. Take a look around at random.

You'd make a character, and I'd run "events" - times where actual plot happens. Between these events, you'd have a few options for what your character is doing- grinding to level, grinding for equipment, hanging out with friends, etc.

Basically, we gloss over the mining for fish, I make a roll at home with a trusty twenty-sider or such, and your sheet gets updated with new stats and such.

During events, it'd be the same as anything else on these boards, except with Tasty Marshmallows™.*

So, whaddya think? Anyone interested?

(( And no, I won't be cameoing the canon characters. Well, unless it really fits the situation. << ))

*Tasty Marshmallows™ may be toxic. Do not consume.

We wouldn't have to make four characters and start over four times to play just the one RP, would we?

Amusingly, I have a .hack character already, complete with a Wave type and a 'favorite' gate.

Okay. So, here's the plan- I'm gonna open up submissions come January. If I can get at least- let's say four people, then I'll totally run this. :3

Okay, people.

So here's how I'm going to do the character creation-

First, you pick out a race and class.

Race
Human - No stat changes. The most balanced race.
You know what they are. I hope.

Ya Tribe - Big on physical, low on magic.
"Beasts of the Ya Tribe have fairly large bodies.Although they have bodies of steel that are capable of resisting physical damage, they have limited understanding of magic and are very vulnerable against magic attacks."
— The World R:2 Official Site —
Ya Tribe Beasts (ガ族) appear large and intimidating, boasting high strength and defense. However, they have low magic defense and attack stats. Their name comes from the Chinese word for "fang" (牙).

Lei Tribe - Good speed, but you won't last long if they manage to hit you.
"Beasts of Lei Tribe possess bodies that are similar in proportion to humans and have the quickest reflexes and speed. They have average physical and magical abilities similar to humans, but are slightly less resilient."
— The World R:2 Official Site —
Lei Tribe Beasts (ライ族) - Although Lei Tribe Beasts usually have the size and shape of human characters, they tend to have canine or feline appearances. Lei Tribe Beasts have high speed and agility, but poor defense.

Tu Tribe - Glass cannons.
"Beasts of the Tu Tribe are smaller than the others. They are highly sensitive and possess great magical abilities and wisdom, but their bodies are much more fragile and they pose almost no resistance to physical attack."
— The World R:2 Official Site —
Tu Tribe Beasts (ウ族) are small animals in appearance. They have limited defense and strength attributes, however, their magic attack and defense are are very high. All members of Medic Union use this race. Their name comes from the Chinese word for "hare" (兎).

So that's the races. Pretty decent range.

Now, for classes...
These:
Adept Rogue
"These guys can be well-rounded, but not too great on stats."

Blade Brandier
"Sword dude."

Macabre Dancer
"Dancing death. Kinda."

Edge Punisher
"BIG Sword dude. Overcompensating much?"

Flick Reaper
"Scythe. Reaper. 'nuff said."

Harvest Cleric
"Heal plz."

Lord Partizan
Spear in the face.

Shadow Warlock
I am the black mage. I cast the spells that make the peoplez fall down.

Steam Gunner
"Shoot things."

Tribal Grappler
"Punch things."

Twin Blade
"Sword guy. Twice."

So yeah, that's where I'm looking. Most of the fighting'll be freeform, but I'll be making rolls when the outcomes are seriously important. Otherwise, the cooler the better.

Nothing actually happening beyond random thoughts like this and a few bad jokes till January, but hey. What are you people thinking of playing?

I think I'll join. Question, though: How many points do Adept Rogues get for their multi-class? The Wiki doesn't say.

Ah, I missed that. Well, I know what I want to play. Lei tribe (or possibly human) Adapt Rogue.

I didn't know we were actually making characters.

In that case:

Race: Lei
Class: Adept Rogue/Twin Blade/Tribal Grappler

Name and Background will come at a later date when I have more info to work on.

Well, you aren't really making them just yet. << I just like to know what I'm gonna be seeing when the time comes. :3

Also, twin to tribal- hm. Speed to Power, not bad. Multi-trigger should come in handy when you get your extension, considering you can switch from all your speed (Twin Blade) to a sudden BOOT TO THE FACE, EVILDOER (Tribal Grappler.)

At some point I will be trying to get Steam Gunner as well. Those are really the only three classes I'm interested in. Maybe add Warlock at some future date too.

...
Um... that's impossible.

QUOTE
At the time of creation, the user picks 2 to 3 classes using a point-buy system, which restricts certain "unbalanced" combinations, such as Shadow Warlock and Harvest Cleric. They also pick freely from one of the 3 armor types. The Adept Rogue starts out in the game with their first chosen class, and must unlock the remainder through Job Extend. An Adept Rogue is given 4 points to use to choose from the following job options:
Blade Brandier - 1 Point
Edge Punisher - 1 Point
Twin Blade - 1 Point
Flick Reaper - 2 Points
Lord Partizan - 2 Points
Tribal Grappler - 2 Points
Macabre Dancer - 3 Points
Harvest Cleric - 3 Points
Shadow Warlock - 3 Points
Steam Gunner - 3 Points

So with Twin Blade/Tribal Grappler, you've used 3 of 4 points. That means one more point to pick.

You'd start with Twin Blade, eventually gain Tribal Grappler, then the third.

No, I mean, there's ways to get the other classes later, correct? I was going to try and get Steam Gunner later, once a way presents itself.

Also, if I really need to fill up that last point, I'll go with Twin Blade/Tribal Grappler/Edge Punisher.

Well, it's possible for anyone to gain an X-Form if I go that route, which does kinda do that.

But in freaky ways. Kite and Haseo, for examples, gain weapons that aren't part of any class.

... I probably won't do that.

I think I might have misunderstood Job Extend.

Well, here. Lemme give you a quick example to help out.

Let's say I make a Human Adept Rogue.

I go for Twin Blade, Edge Punisher, and Flick Reaper. That's my four points. I also go for heavy armor.

I start with Heavy Armor and Twin Blades. My stats are still average- that'll never change. So a regular twin blade is way faster, although I've got better defense.

At some point, I do a quest and get a Job Extension- then, I can equip Heavy Swords, too. I can even switch between the two styles in the middle of a fight, the same as anyone else changing weapons. My stats are still average- so I'm faster than a regular Edge Punisher, but still not going to keep up with their damage.

Finally, I do another quest, and get my last Job Extension. Now, I can equip Scythes- which means I can hit enemies at a mid-range, throwing them away from me. I'm still wearing heavy armor, and still have average stats. But! I now have the Multi Trigger- which means that I can combo my different skills together, switching weapons quickly in the middle.

So, when you get your last Job Extension- you can use a skill, then immediately use another skill from another Job you have. So a twin blade skill could lead into a flick reaper skill.

Really, Adept Rogues are a bit weak. But they are versatile, and Multi Trigger rocks.

See, I was under the impression that Job Extension quests were used to level up your current jobs and gain new jobs.
