...the little girl talked about how when you fall, you should gather your wits pick yourself right back up. And then Kefka reappeared, having seemingly gathered his wits and picked himself back up, in spite of established continuity.

What is she?

Er... I do NOT like that purple glow around Terra.

(also, "depomf" is a great sound effect)

What's with Terra? Is she Touched now?

Not necessarily... at least, not necessarily yet.

I'd say it's her regaining her Esper half. It was pinkish-purple after all.

Still... How in the world could the Sovereign, let alone her subconsious self (the Shard) do that?!

...or did I just answer my own question with the italics?

Either that or the fact that she's standing conspicuously close to a girl that's emitting probably more omega energy than what would be considered safe by any standard. Stand next to a nuclear fuel rod that's leaking radiation; become irradiated. Get my drift?

What. The. Crap.

I second Sir Donald's "Terra is half-esper again, likely because Kefka's brought magic back with him," rationale. I wouldn't rule out her being Touched out of hand, but that much feels too early to say.

Also, presuming this girl has the Shard of Tears, I've said before that we really don't know enough about what it can do, and... ^_^o er, bringing Kefka back to life -- and possibly magic with him -- because the little girl holding it abstractly implied he might be okay just... kinda underscores that.

Also, that speculation I did about character abilities in a magic-free world probably just became useless. ^__^ Good times.

EDIT: And now for a stupid joke I can't get out of my head.

Kefka: "I just flew in on a 747, and boy are my arms tired from immolating everyone on board!"

Does the shard enable the whole

"I am invincible!".... *thump*

side of Videoland? Kind of the "enable comedic irony" button?

Because Celes was pretty adamant that Kefka was gone before he pomf'd into existence...

And, fwiw, I also agree with "Terra is becoming half-Esper, not angsty".

Summon Kefka is officially the worst spell.

Assuming the Shard is primarily focused on the past, this makes sense. Especially if this is child-Rydia, who also was from the past. There isn't that much difference between bringing a past version of a living character to life, and bringing a past version of a dead character to life. They're both in the past and accessible; if you can do the one, the other isn't going to be inherently more difficult.

Is it relevant that Kefka's was a plot death, not an Omega Energy death?

I would assume so. "Plot dead" can come back to life if the game's story demands it.

Haha. The Mask can see the future. The Shard... has the power of RETCON.

Kefka's advice is sound and I would like to subscribe to his newsletter.

...

...

...

MOMMY! @_@

...I need a Twilight Sparkle plushy to hug right about now...

IDEA! If they can get him to say that he is invincible, maybe a petrify spell will work on him. Just prop him up in a statue garden or the castle dungeon or something, and the world can have it's magic and avoid the death of all who live as well!

...yah, that isn't where the comic is going, but it IS cathartic...

Also, "Summon Kefka" ranks up there with "Summon Hitler" and "Summon Porky".

Is the "good advice" mentioned in the comic's title and JayDee's blurb below the comic referring to maybe-Kid-ia's advice about falling down, or Kefka's advice about burning lemon trees?

The girl's nature is still confusing. An optimistic saying isn't exactly in character for the Touched, and (while the revival of Kefka is going to cause a TON of sorrow if not de-summoned or taken down really quickly) I think she believes she was helping the "poor guy" who fell down, or maybe helping by returning magic to the world. And that's assuming she even did that on purpose.
