Uhm... I'm not totally sure what game you guys played, but the Chancellor in 1000 A.D. was tied up and stuffed in that chest, just like the one 400 years previous. So he couldn't have gotten out anyway, poor dude.

The one in 600ad is more than capable of freeing himself from that chest. I guess the one in modern times just forgot to put points in Escape Artist?
Also, I'm not entirely certain you can go through that without freeing him. I think he's required to advanced the plot. -------------------- Bleep! Expletive deleted. Bleepity-bleep-bleep. Frak!

It could also be that Yakra XIII decided to actually lock the chest: you need to go back to grab the Yakra Key in order to open the 1000 AD chest, whereas no key is necessary for the 600 AD one.*
* As you noted, even opening the chest itself is optional. I don't think saving the 1000 AD Chancellor is required, either: FAQs I've looked at say it just affects whether he shows up in the ending. So the poor guy could just be stuck in there. ... ^_^o How did we get on this topic again? It was something about killing lawyers (which might have happened, if the real Chancellor can also work as prosecutor), but I don't really remember. |

It's always funny to leave the 600 A.D. chancellor in his chest when you leave so he can pop out and run off to catch up.
Also, I have no idea how we got to this conversation. -------------------- "Yes, the twelve legendary weapons. They are weapons. They are legendary. There are even twelve of them." - Sage Ghido, Final Fantasy V
"Let's see... First, we have to fight in sync." "And that's where this all goes to hell." - Shiki & Neku, The World Ends With You "We evolve beyond the person we were a minute before! Little by little, we advance a bit further with each turn. That's how a drill works!" - Simon, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann |
