I wonder how many times that Alex really went through each step of that lesson before he got them right.

I suspect the answer is: exactly as many times as we just saw because montage.

This was a fun one. ^__^ Resolved in about half the time I expected, too. Never mind raising the interest in how he used it to pull off the last panel's stunt.

Speculate, someone else, for my soul is too heavy with sloth and need to study!

So is he actually still wearing the pants Proto Man gave him, using niht repap to mask them? Or did he remove them? If he's really not wearing them... well, Proto Man certainly won't be happy.

The main propose of a montage is to shorten what the audience sees of the training section so the audience won't leave of boring before main part of the story comes along, not to shorten the actual training.

Note that we only saw 1 panel for each rule as that is all we needed to see of the training, not because that was how fast Alex Williams completed the training.

The joke is that it really was just a montage. There wasn't anything else.

If it worked the same as this time, then Alex actually experienced the whole thing.

Flashback Alex says "God bless montages!". So unless Flashbacking Alex is editing his own story for the sake of an extremely weak joke, it was an actual montage.

(and if he's editing his own story, it brings a lot of details into question. I don't want to start down the 'unreliable narrator' road of speculation, given the nature of the comic)

Let's just call it a combination of "A Temporal Anomaly" and "A Wizard Did It", and leave it at that.

So... odds on how quick abusing this to get his regular outfit back is gonna' bite him in the ass?

...I'd put the over/under at one comic.

So he's using a paper thin disguise of himself? Doubtful, but seems like it might get some props tied to his old self then (controller maybe?)

How it goes wrong: he's disguised as the Gamemaster. Everyone will know it's him.

As far as Nexus City is concerned, he's just some random sprite suspected of being Touched. The people who know he's the Gamemaster are few and far between.

The disguises seem to hinge on him announcing who he is, tho', and being believed against all evidence.

No one would believe that Alex is the Gamemaster, simply because he is the Gamemaster.

this is why he has the perfect disguise

personally, I think this is gonna bite him in the ass AND kick him in the nuts. Because Alex said it himself "Nice things don't happen to me."

Now if he asked King Hippo what he thought the catch phrase of Captain SNES is, and the big, fat oaf is right, well, Alex will likely hurt himself because then he'll be pissed that he forgot it and a fat drunk knew it. Though we basically know he's gonna be pissed anyway over how obvious it is because his captor apparently knew it right away, as evidenced by the "Go fuck yourself" coming from Alex.

Honestly, I'm just itching to see what the next thing to cause Alex pain is. My money is on something fire-related.
