The Democrats do better on the Internet and a few of the networks, but the Republicans are huge in the biggest six media companies (which, taken together, control upwards of 95% of newspapers, radio, and TV stations...)

As well as several things in other industries. And the richest people, IE CEOs, are republican thanks to suspect tax cuts.

Y'know, if you "generally side with the minority", that tends to put you as a metaphorical masochist. If the minority wins, others will flock to their support, and they will become the majority. By your definition, this makes you corrupt, and the other side must be the one that deserves support. By "generally siding with the minority", you border on taking pleasure in failure. tongue.gif

That makes sence for most places, but in OH it's really anti Rep. It's amazing that we did so well here acctualy. We had a big deal a bit back about the FOX and ABC (Owned by same broadcaster here) and how they wouldn't play a GWB campagin ad, while running like 6 or 7 Kerry ads.

Ehh, the media will catch on to anything that will make people pay attention, conservative things like 'They don't like the 10 commandments on govt' property Oh noes!' or liberal things like 'the soldiers abused the prisonors'. The major thing is the current Bush's administration doesn't leak anything he doesn't want to, not any paticular media bias. Of course, since they are all owned by a handfull of companies anyways, I'm sure that also comes into play.

Edit: Supra Baron'd! That was for your last post Robo.

I was kidding when I made that statement. Only observing in a creative manner that the majority is always so corrupt. I am actually a semi-independant Lib. I would be something else, but its the closest to my beliefs of the two, and 3rd parties tend to do badly.

Edit: They even make stuff up based on known facts, like in Rathergate.

The majority isn't corrupt, the corrupt is the majority. Cause and effect. Those that are willing to do anything for power will get that power. Those that won't will not.

There is no such thing as a perfect system and there never will be. Humans are vile, territorial, and violent beasts, and this will never change.

Whoever told you the system is perfect should be torn about by wolves...

And I think it was one of the Greeks who advised constant vigilance against corruption on the political front...

EDIT: Now that is a scathing remark on the human race. I disagree. Humans certainly have that potential, but people have good in them too...

It was those poeple who say "we should invade all other countries and force our system of government on them because its perfect" people. It had potential, but democracy in a country of actual people killed democracy.

Ideals will never win out. For example, Communism is a perfect system, ideally. Everyone gives according to their ability and takes according to their need. In practice, however, it's death.

True Communism has never been tried on a large scale. There have been Leninists and Stalinists, but Leninism didn't last long before it got pre-empted and Stalinism is basically dictatorship.
As for ideals...they never win in the long term, no. Nothing ever does - that's entropy for you. But corruption dies off too, once people get sick enough of it. It works out, if enough sane people are keeping an eye out

True comminism works on small scales. On large scales, its immpossible to consult everyone on every issue, so a leader/select group is formed. Thus it becomes either a true democracy/republic, or a dictatorship.

You kinow I always laugh histerically whe n people talk about the media being biased. I was a broadcast major. Although the editor says what goes in and what doesn't, he doesn't write the stories and newscasts are just basic newspaper stories with pictures. Newspaper bias in most cases is near impossable because the inverted pyramid method of newswriting kinda removes fluff,

Example

There was an expolosion at the northeastern playground today. Three children were injured, and ojne was treated for minor burns. Chuck Little was quoted as saying "ow"

The only ways newspapers can be biased is with their editorial page which is only read by like three people and is the editors quintisential bitchfest..... But it is not THE ONLY PART of the paper, and the news REMAINS THE NEWS!!!!

They don't lie, Luppy. They just choose to present the most sensationalist things.

Remind me to send you a copy of my local paper... I don't think I've ever seen even a vaguely political story in it without a Republican slant...What a newspaper CAN do is pick what stories and interviews they publish to make certain factions look good or bad. The inverted pyramid just means the editor needs a staff of like-minded people to do it.

OF COURSE THEY DO THAT!!!!

They are a business. Do you think JJ Jamison would have sold as many papers in the comic if he printed headlines like "Spiderman is an icky guy"... No it is printed "Spider-Menace" for a reason. And forgiver me for the comicbook parale. I understand we are talking about political bias, not superhero bias.
