Daed never had a problem with the RPing. He was having fun with it just like everyone else was. There wasn't a problem until Mordy attacked him for doing it.

The intro thread is there for a reason.

And this isn't an RP forum. RPing is fine, of course, but really, I'd rather talk to a person, not a person's character.

An old chat room I use to go to...it's dead now...Few innocent fights here and there. The reason Daed got talking about his character is because I asked him...

I'm starting to think we should drop the serious boards.

To say hi, maybe offer a gift, then run like hell without actually getting to know the person before one of the older members goes in and yells at everyone for "spamming up the intro thread"?

Alot of the time it really is starting to get spammy tho.

People should read the first post of a thread before they post in it. I mean, really, with something called the "RAGE!!!" thread, it's gonna be violent...

And my annoyance at Dae's character was the fact that it was a godmod, and the only people who he got along with in that thread were people who simply nodded and said "Yeah yeah, he's AWESOME and OMG so POWERFUL."

and Terra, I never kicked him out of the intro thread... people have been doing that a little too quickly as of late. I think I got told to stop spamming the intro thread when I was saying hi to someone, once...

Saying hi and welcome is OK. Spamming up the intro thread, which happens after awhile, is not.

Sometimes they're overreacting, sure, but alot of the time it IS starting to get spammy.

Same thing here terra most of my post were deleted in there.

It used to be that you could post whatever you wanted in the intro thread, but after a while chunks of spam would get moved to the dumpster by Knight. I think that might be a rather better way of doing it than kicking people out into the other cold, dark threads...

Actually, I can almost see her point now.

Some of us came in as new people when this forum was a whole different animal. When it was nothing but serious discussion about the comic all the live long day.

Some of us came in at Buzz, when we were in the transition from what we are now to what we were. It was a time of great change when fitting in wasn't that hard, since there was no real one way to act that was how you should act. The biggest times people butted heads was over the deletion of the original PAYT.

Now, the forum has evolved into a whole new thing, encompasing Comic, General Goofiness, Serious Debate, and Role-Playing, all under one roof. I know we all came here for the comic, but many of us stay for far different reasons, and it has picked up many purposes. I don't know what it is like now, but perhaps it would be a bit daunting to stumble into over a year of history and a very different way of doing things.

However, everyone was new to forums once. I felt that I adapted to environments fairly quickly. I've fled some forums I found dull or annoying, joined some forums that I thought were fun or interesting, and fairly quickly I adapt to how things go there if I feel like staying. There is some level of adaptation needed to fit into any new place. You don't go into a Christian Extremist forum, and ask everyone if they want to join you for a Black Mass. You don't go into a Serious Debate forum, and start hitting people with foam bats and telling them to lighten up. You learn that every place has different rules and conventions of behavior, you learn to adapt to the ones wherever you go and want to stay at, and that is how things work.

And yet, when he did the same, venting about how he felt towards the actions of another member, he was banned.

EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING is a godmod here. You grab FZ and teleport away or fly off to Jupiter! There is nothing that isn't a godmod on this board, except people who are undershadowed. And he was getting along fine with people until you went after him.

You didn't, but that's what's been happening there. People have been too afraid to say much beyond the initial hi for fear of "spamming" the thread. And when they do start talking to the person, someone eventually goes in and kicks them out, telling them, "Get out now before a mod comes in and deletes everything!"

1. Yeah, because THAT was the reason he was banned. It had nothing to do with the pretentious and superior front he showed us.

2. I'm a godmod? That's pretty interesting, considering I'm one out of two characters who stayed dead, dammit, in the RP forum. Also, what Mordain does is playful RPing. Daedalus was using his godmod as a serious RP character.

3. Yeah, stupid orange button. Never should have installed it in the first place. I liked the old way of cleaning the spam out of the intro thread after the newbie was done introducing himself.

He didn't do that until it was done to him first.

RP forum doesn't count. There is a vast difference between RP forum and Random forum. In the Random forum, everyone seems to godmod. That or die and just become a ghost, like I do.

Agreed. I think most of us are pretty much agreed on this point.
