Thanks to the efforts of a few good citizens (and one particularly bad one) Carmine Falcone found himself locked up in Arkham Asylum. The criminal empire he once controlled did not crumble, however. All across Gotham, Falcone’s lieutenants and underbosses seized upon bits of the empire like hungry dogs, claiming bits of Gotham as their own and all hungrily eyeing each other’s shares of the city.
If that had been the worst of it, the citizens would probably have been lucky.
A new criminal element has arisen in Gotham; outlandish personalities, gripped by insanity seem determined to make their mark. Whether Batman was responsible for drawing them out or not, he seems to act as a lightning rod, enthralling this new breed of criminals as he stands as the only bulwark, holding them back from taking over the city.
The Gotham Police force has a few good men, but that’s it. For every Jim Gordon, there are scores of men like Detective Flass. And what of Commissioner Loeb? While no one may have found solid evidence, everybody has heard the whispers that he’s in the pocket of a number of underworld bosses.
Gotham: Knightfall is an RPG set in the aftermath of the movie Batman Begins, with Batman and the few good cops of the GCPD trying to hold back the wave of violence and insanity that is threatening to break upon the city. Will the criminals finally drive the light of hope from Gotham or will the semblance of order be restored? And who will rise up to join the fight on either side?
