Full Name: Victoria Clarkson
Alias: Nyx, Queen of the Night
Age: 29
Power: Darkness manipulation. She can bend shadows to her will, and the more active ones that she uses offensively can cut you, but since shadows are usually cooler than ice you don't bleed. Think of it as a dry-ice effect - the cut is burned shut as soon as it's made, leaving the victim with a cut that's covered in frostbite and a burning feeling. Nyx can also see as perfectly at night as most can see during the day.

She can enter what she calls her 'plane' at will. Her plane is simply moving into shadows and entering her realm, which is essentially a black hole separate from the real world. In this 'world' shadows have a life of their own, and they attack anything but Nyx without mercy, which is what makes her the Queen of the Night. In this realm and only in this realm she can become intangible, a taunting ghost for those unlucky enough to fall into this hell.

Victoria is extremely sensitive to light, however. Walking out into daylight without sunglasses or something to block the harsh light of day practically blinds her, and she sunburns very easily. Her powers will also not work during the day or during nights when the moon is especially full. Bright lights also severely limit her powers, and since their light is unnatural she becomes especially sluggish under high wattage bulbs. The more time she spends in a brightly lit environment, the weaker she gets.

While it isn't a power, she does have a sort of 'sixth sense' for identifying a patient's fears.

Appearance: Victoria is a stunning beauty. She 's around 5'7", with long black hair. Her eyes are brown, and usually rimmed in eyeliner with equally black eyeshadow.

When she uses her powers, however, her eyes go completely black. Tendrils of shadow wrap around her skin (and clothing - it's not like she does crime naked...) and slowly turn every inch a charcoal color. This helps to both disguise her and help her to blend into darkness easier.
Defining marks: She never leaves her home without sunglasses, and she can often be seen walking around brightly lit places wearing them
Costume: Check out the video "Beast and the Harlot" by Avenged Sevenfold (linked in sig). The end of the video is what Victoria's costume would be - the darkness would completely obscure her skin and clothes.

Personality: Victoria is cold and uncaring. The few times she shows affection is when she humors somebody. Most of the time, she just doesn't give a damn about people and their stupid problems - it's enough to make people wonder why she's a psychiatrist in the first place.

She does however find pleasure in torturing people. She likes to use their fears against them for her own gain. Unlike most people, Victoria has never fallen in love, never even had a crush. There is no way anybody would ever tug at her 'heart strings,' so to speak - she is so not the romantic type. She is with Peter Miller at the moment, and though she cares about him she would never admit it - Victoria isn't stupid enough to make herself vulnerable, not for anyone.

History: Victoria grew up in a rich household, and was ignored by her parents a majority of the time. It bothered her at first, but eventually she developed to be the same way - right around the same time she began to develop her powers.

The first time Victoria used her powers was in her 5th grade Christmas pageant. She had auditioned for the role of an angel, but got stuck as a backstage worker instead. She had seethed for weeks after that, and it finally erupted on the night of the pageant. While the angels were being lowered, she was watching from the catwalk above the stage. When they started speaking tendrils of black slashed at the angels and the children on stage began to scream, their parents following suit. Eventually the ropes were cut and the kids fell to the ground, two of them breaking limbs and the other knocking herself unconscious.

After that point she began to provoke herself into using her powers until she could control when they came out and where to direct them. She became an outcast at school, feared by everyone who attended for all the 'freaky' things they'd 'seen' her do. They had never seen anything though that could be substantiated, and the fact that she was an excellent student kept her teachers from believing the rumors that flew around Victoria.

She eventually passed through high school with flying colors and offers to go to many different high profile schools. Her parents could afford the best, and therefore sent her off to a rather respected college, where she was roomed with Jordyn Webb who would become Nightengale. Victoria finished her psych degree while Jordyn was halfway through going after her psychiatry degree, which did bother Victoria for a time, especially since Jordyn never had to work as much at things as Victoria did.

It was Jordyn who pushed Victoria into villainy, more or less. Jordyn had discovered Victoria's power on accident while they were dorm mates, and when Victoria came to work in Jordyn's asylum after college they decided to begin terrorizing the city together. Not long after that business began Victoria met Peter Miller and convinced him to accompany them after learning about his powers. During the time where the asylum was being renovated, Jordyn informed her that she had some workers build out a secret room - Victoria couldn't very well let them go blabbing that around. She trapped each of them within her plane and she's not quite sure what happened to them, but assumes they were torn apart by the shadows or starved to death.

Since beginning to work at one of Jordyn's therapy clinics, she has been published in several psych journals. Most of her articles focus around phobias and analyzing superheroes - it's well known that Victoria Clarkson feels that the superheroes are just as damaged as the villains they battle.
