Festival advice

Help! I'm off to my first festival since Reading '78 Albeit it's only a one dayer featuring Neil Young and some cracking other acts If the weather is fine it should be a gas. However, at my advanced age comfort is a major concern Would it be poor form if i were to take a fold up garden chair? the type that folds up into a bag.

I certainly don't fancy sitting on the ground for most of the day my back will kill me and i won't be taking anything to dull the pain

Get one of those small folding stools - they usually cost three to five pounds and are much easier to carry than a chair. Although if it's dry, there's really nothing wrong with sitting on the ground!

I presume you were at Glastonbury Damian? Any highlights / lowlights?

Let's see. Lowlights... the feeling on Thursday night/Friday morning that we were in for the fourth mudbath on the trot. Shakin' Stevens. Royworld. Coming home.

Highlights... the feeling from Saturday morning that we were in for the first relaxing mud-free fest in years. Elbow. Crowded House. Ben Folds. The National. Edwyn Collins (heartbreaking and uplifting in equal measure). Biffy Clyro (one of the best displays of controlled aggression I've seen in my life). The Futureheads. Elbow (again... I saw them twice). Martha Wainwright.
