Hi Damian, am just listening to their single 'Misunderstanding' on Myspace. I rather like it - is the rest of the album in similar vein? Did you know they are supporting Dodgy at the Bristol Academy on 13th November? The only issue is that Sons & Daughter are playing at the Louisiana on the same night |

I did know, yep, and I already had tickets for the Dodgy gig. Then as you say, Sons and Daughters now play the Louisiana the same night. Most annoying. There was a solution for a while - the Dodgy gig had a 9.45pm curfew for a club night - it says it on my ticket. And Sons and Daughters wouldn't have been on until 10pm, and the venues are only 5/10 minutes apart. BUT the Dodgy gig is now apparently on at 'normal' gig times I think. Saves me money at least. But I'd love to see Sons and Daughters again... And yep, "Misunderstanding" is representative of the record - I would say though that it's pretty mellow compared to the first two (which is not a criticism). On a related note, I recently bought tickets to see Brakes in Bath - can't wait for that one. |

Sons and Daughters are playing Brighton as well. At a surprisingly small venue

.... the new acoustic album by Jake Shillingford, more known from My Life Story, which came out last week. I know there are a few MLS fans out there on this forum, so for you this could be an essential purchase, although probably not for everyone else....

Wow, the Clearlake forum is really suffering.
I'm listening to Speed Brass of the Gypsies by Fanfare Savale. It's lots of Romanian brass music played at speed. Dan has a subscription to eMusic, so he has to use up a certain number of downloads a month, which is why this sort of thing appears on our stereo from time to time. |

Hooray! A post. Hello.
It's kind of quiet around now but they were in the studio a week or so back, tweaking what is largely a complete album. So stuff will happen eventually. I keep listening to "Songs of Prey" by The Scaramanga Six at the minute. That and the new Manics album. Both great. Can you bring some of that speed brass to your party? I'd like to hear it! |

I sub to emusic too, so am listening to Tony Cuffe (Scottish folk singer) and early King Sunny Ade.
Emusic had all the Clearlake B-sides for a while, but they were taken down before I could get them. Damn. |

You should be able to hear some of them on Spotify, I think. |

I cant quite match Romanian Speed Brass. But I've just bought the new album by the Dirty Projectors, who produce the most befuddling blend of music you'll hear combing every music type out there.

I'm digging on The Information' s Deuteronomy on In The Red Records. If you like The Jesus Lizard, The Giddy Motors, Fugazi, or Mclusky - go for it!

I'm listening to On Land and in the Sea by Cardiacs. My old copy had disaappeared a while back but thanks to the exciting new listing of all Cardiacs albums on Itunes I have now downloaded it. And if you still dont know Cardiacs stuff this is obviously your ideal opportunity to sample a tune, the most popular so far on Itunes appears to be Is this the Life, and quite rightly. Although I cant find Stoneage Dinasours, which I think may have been on Songs for Ships and Irons, which isnt on there yet.

It's top news that most of the stuff is now available again. Unfortunately for me, it's all things I've got - bring on the singles and the Sea Nymphs albums hopefully! You're right about Stoneage Dinosaurs, by the way. If you want an MP3 of it drop me a PM... I know you'll be buying it when it appears anyway! |
