hullo!

i am kate, i used to say yay a lot and the name stuck. i have not seen Clearlake live yet, and have only just got around registering for this board...but I had had Cedars and Amber a while.

I got them on recommendation from Damian and have to say I didn't listen too much to start off with...but both have definitely grown a lot on me in past weeks - despite me having owned them for a while! i don't think i was old enough to understand them before, sort-of. having said that i am not 12 or something! (27)

my favourite Clearlake songs are probably Trees in the City (which plays in my head during the day), Neon and The Mind is Evil. Trees is way out front though.

Other music-wise, i like lots of things. Silver Sun, The Wildhearts, Cardiacs, Ben Folds, Four Tet, Radiohead, Ulrich Schnauss, the Beach Boys, the Ramones, and lots of classic poppy rocky and punky stuff. I play guitar and sing in a band called Ultraxine ( http://www.myspace.com/ultraxine ) and we've recorded our first album this year!

looking forward to maybe seeing Clearlake live in 2009 as well as the new album - and getting hold of Lido and the Not Bit of Wood album too!

nice to meet you all!

-k

Hello stranger! Good to hear from you. You'll be pleased to know that Lido and the Not Bit of Wood album are every bit as good. And they make great (late) Christmas presents...

(...and the new album will make a great Easter present...)

See you at a gig sometime! (I know Kate if anyone hadn't guessed yet)

Hello board!

New member here, but a long time Clearlake fan!

I first got into them when I heard Winterlight on Steve Lamacq's Radio 1 show back in early 2000. Shortly after that, I started up a Geocities website on the band and updated it every now and then for about 2 years.

I used to be on the original clearlake.uk.com forums as winterlight_uk (I think...). Are the old forums online anywhere to view? I fancy a trip down memory lane.

Seen the band twice - once at Border's Book Store in 2000 and once in Peterborough in 2006.

I hardly ever post but am also a long time Clearlake fan!

I first heard them through an NME CD in about 2001 - the CD had a copy of "something to look forward to" which I fell in love with.

I then got the chance to see them at the Wag Club in Wardour Street in the same year. I remember Jason played a white stratocaster and it was the first time I got to hear some of their other songs. It was also one of the first gigs I took my new girlfriend to (she is now my wife!)

I have seen them a few times since (when they play in London) - a few times at the Borderline and at the Camden Monarch. The gigs around the time they brought Cedars out were wonderful - the dreamy keyboards were unlike anything out at the time.

Loving the new solo album and can't wait for the new Clearlake album in 2010 - something to look forward to!

Hello!

Nope, those forums aren't there anymore unfortunately. When I started up a fansite in January 2005 they were still there, and they were still there in March 2005 when it went official... but they never had anything to do with me and at some point they disappeared. Not sure whether they expired or whether the person responsible took them down. I have fond memories of those days too...
