True there slow, but this is a beginner class. If you want speed and power modify it or get and animal. There are differences in the clones. Some are held to tighter specs than others. Thus some are smother on the power band than others. these engines are designed to run at 3500 rpm producing 6.5 hp. After 4200 rpm they drop off like a rock on torque and hp. From what I have seen at 5500 rpm is about 4.5 to 5 hp. Just my 2 cents.
Thanks

Hey CLONEKILLER17 I'll make you a challenge . Tell me what you run and I'll put the same money in a clone that it takes to build an engine like yours and I will kill your engine.

Yes but the stroke is shorted. Flathead is 206 cc a clone is 196cc. The bore & stroke should make a good reven modified. but the valves are too small. The carburetor on a clone is over .100 smaller and the intake valve is .144 smaller. With equal carb. and valves the clone it would easily wipe out a flathead. And a WKA flathead is really a modified ,you can port it, with the new cams you get over .300 lift with valve float. But 2 engines built equally, the same size the overhead valve will always beat the flathead, more efficient , better flow.
At our track we can run with about half of the flatheads but there are a few that beat us pretty bad.

You need to do some more work on these. I have seen the 6.5 clone, built and run the body off the same built flatheads that why everyone in the animal and flatheads classes don't like them to well, cause with the overhead cam, they can produce more HP than the Briggs. The little 6.5 can with not alot of money and just a little machine work go from 6.5 to nearly 25hp. And some builders has said they have seen them on dyno's and test run as much as 30hp and they think they can still get more out of them. Lets all admit it guys, the flat are slowly going to fade away. It will take a few years but they will. Parts will become harder to find. Now thats just my 2 cents.

nccloneman,
I have benn working on these for 3 years now. And I have modifited them to the same specs as the animal. They will only produce only about 20 hp.
Now If you want to built an open with a bullet head and big valves that is a different ball game. maby 25 hp.
I have gotten a clone on gas to 15 hp with a few mods. better than a animal on meth. ( WKA )
