Last nite was the first race for us with a Stout Racing super box . When we got to the track it was 48 degrees, too cold to really get hooked up on asphalt . It took about 5 laps to get tires warm enough to run hard . First practice I had it geared like we gear our flat heads we turned 6900 rpm's . They let us run with the flat heads . In the practice there was 4 or 5 ahead of Danny when it started he quickly passed them and came around and lapped 3 or 4 more With Kalyn and his super box on Danny's rear bumper .
We was turning laps in the 10.70's and we had a set of Firestone's that was worn out , Kalyn had better Vega's on. Everything seemed good ,Temperature was 411 not blowing any oil ,dropping about 1200 rpm's in the corners. Thought I'd try it this way in the first heat . Started out side 3rd row Kalyn started inside 4th row there was 11karts in the heat .Temp. had dropped to 44 by first heat . They gave them about 10 laps to warm up their tires but had problems people spinning because of cold temp. When the heat started Kalyn got ahead of Danny but he tucked in behind Kalyn and by the front strait on the second lap they were in front . They lapped about 7 karts in a 10 lap heat .Danny stayed about a kart length behind Kalyn but couldn't catch him . I noticed Kalyn would pull Danny about half a kart at all starts and restarts and off the corners . Kalyn was turning 6600 we turned 6890 he was more on the torque band . So I decided to drop 1 tooth on the rear . Going slow with changes trying to find the engine sweet spot since this was the first run . Danny and Kalyn was suppose to start in the 3rd row when they formed up for the heat they were in the front row and no one would come up where they was suppose to be so the left them that way .Kalyn won again almost the same way . So I decided to drop 2 more teeth for the feature . They had the line up screwed up for the feature they had Danny inside 2nd row . Out side front row was the fastest flat head which I think had a cheater cam in it because he could smoke all the others . On the start Kalyn spun on the strait coming to the green ,the temperature was now 38 degrees too cold to race . They had 4 more restarts because of people spinning when they finally got started Kalyn got the jump on everyone Danny got stuck beside the fast flat head for about 3 laps his tires hadn't come in yet . When he finally cleared the flat head Kalyn was about 20 kart lengths ahead I thought we were done . But in about 5 laps Danny caught Kalyn and 2 more he passed him and started to leave him . Then all of a sudden Kalyn was trying to pass Danny , later Danny said he messed up in turn 1 and almost spun that is how Kalyn caught him , Any way then Danny went on to stretch it out to about 10 kart lengths at the finish . I guess I found the sweet spot we turned 6650 in the feature and had plenty of power . Not bad for the first race both super box's lapped all but one flat head and I think he was cheating . And Stout Racing engine won the first time out . I would recommend this engine to everyone . I am a Stout Racing dealer and would be glad to get one for you in our area . -------------------- Deriell Logan

CONGRATS ON YOUR FIRST WIN!
Hope this will help get a super box class started in your area. I will get the quote to you this week. I just got back from a clone tech in Mt Verion, ILL. Dan at Pulse Racing put it on and Jimmy Simms did the tech. I know have a better understanding in his rules and how he wants to run the BSP program. Still wating on the flywheel fron China. As soon as I get it I am going to run dyno test and let everyone know the results. Again congrats on your win. Lewis -------------------- www.stoutracingengines.com

Lewis do you have a? Do it youreself kit for super/box and price?
$750 a good price for a builder built motor. I know the way put together makes a difference in how runs. If put on dyno and broke in checked to make sure is right is heck of a Deal. Brents to young tracks proably wouldn't let run S/B . I didn't get very good feed back at our track just letting Brent run with stock Adult class. I could have went to Ron track owner and got approved but would have caused Ron trouble. Get out ther would have room for Brent to run in yard. Get him use to little more power under him. Dennis |

Lewis is that price the way you sent it to me . How about bare engine no muffler ,no top plate or throttle linkage or air filter . The reason I ask most people that want to go to this engine already have all this . I'll call you Friday evening I have a couple questions .I have 4 or 5 guys interested.

GIZZYRACING and Dennis,
Sorry I havn't gotten back sooner. Went to road Atlanta this weekend for the nationals. A little wet but got to run today and everything went well. Placed 4th in the clone class. needed more time for gearing and set up. Dennis I can get together a kit but there is some machining that needs to be done to the block. Crank gear need to be welded and rod and piston fitted. The head has porting work done and I mix match rocker and push rod to get max proformance. As well as jetting and fine tunning carb. Darriell, I will get you a price for just motor. Also let them know I can take there motors that are seasoned and make great S/B motors. Thanks Lewis -------------------- www.stoutracingengines.com
