If everyone don't know i'm DLOGAN on Bob's. With WKA starting to worry about us cloners we need a set of uniform rules for the clone engine. There should be rules for Box stock, Blueprinted stock, limited modified, and open. WKA has already stated all clones must have a billet flywheel to run on any WKA track. Which we don't need in the box stock class if we keep them the way the class was meant to be. If we don't get a set of rules or an association for our clone racing others will ruin it for us by requiring so many changes it will cost as much as an Animal to race a clone.
Most tracks use WKA rules they will go along with what ever they say. Some people will say it's great that WKA it going to have clone classes but how many WKA events or nationals do you plan on going to , me none. I have always raced on small tracks in Indiana, Ohio, and Illinois . We ran to WKA rules but always thought there was better rules for the average karter. With WKA rules you could always read between the lines of a rule change and see where a board member- engine builder had influenced it.
We need a set of rules for clone racers by clone racers . We need to control our own destiny.
This forum would be a good place to start. If we don't start soon it'll be to late.
Just the thoughts of an old racer.

I have a set of rules that I will send you to look at. There are some changes I would like to see made. It might be a couple of days to get it together
Thanks,
Lewis

Stock Clone needs to stay on pump gas. A full day of racing uses a gallon of gas so cost doesn't even factor in. Now if a modified class is started the sky is the limit and alcohol would play an important part in performance as well as cooling the engine. ninja.gif

I would like to see a clutch and gear rule. Say adults 16/60 and kids on 13/60. And possibly a spec tire.
Thanks
Lewis

We have a clutch rule ( Drum ) no disc at Barnesville but your gear rule wouldn't work at our track. I'd have to get out and push it thru the back S turn!

I havnt been in Kart racing that long but gearing seems to be part of set up to me if you gear to hi you hurt power- to low you hurt engine and still dont win.

I really dont like tire rule ( I just run worn out used) but I see the point of it.

I had a good first full year of racing this year glad the clone class came along or I would have been a spectator again

I was just wondering what you guys may know about a standard set of rules. So far it seems like every one is going with AKRA in PA.Is this pretty much everywhere?I'm now starting to hear that WKA wants to get in the mix.I hope not we'll be right back to spending big money!!
