The following is an outline, which we will tighten up here and now before starting the game so that we know what our characters will eventually be doing. It is in order, with major events divided into smaller ones.

Here's the tentative plan:

The squad is assigned to Helltown, in the jungles of Armageddon Secundus. See http://www.armageddon3.com/English/Campaig.../catachans.html for details. This is a "forward base" for the Armageddon Ork Hunters and Catachan Jungle Fighters. Squads operate independently, only returning to Helltown to resupply.

1. Squad Black takes leave in Helltown, exploring the base and getting to know each other.

- a. They eat a meal.
- b. They get in a fight with another regiment (something cute and poncy, for choice).
- c. They are dressed down.

2. Squad Black is assigned to march north to Point Alpha, the location of a rumoured Ork base. This is a journey of a week. They are given explosives and meltabombs, and ordered to destroy the base, if possible.

3. Squad Black goes north, working their way through the jungle. At first they only battle the jungle itself.
- a. They battle a large grox that bars their way.
- b. They cross a river.
- c. They are attacked by a horde of army ants.

4. At last they approach the ork stronghold.
- a. They come across ork traps -- tripwires, mines and spiked pits. Chester finds one and is seriously wounded, but saves the squad in doing so.
- b. They encounter a small ork patrol.
- c. They encounter the base itself.

5. The base is heavily defended by at least thirty orks, with heavy weapons.
- a. The squad reconnoiters the base.
- b. The squad attacks at night, killing sentries and sneaking in. Avenger snipes.
- c. The squad unleashes hell.
- d. The squad meets, and defeats, a pissed-off ork Nob. Avenger, having caught the Nob's attention, is killed but has weakened the Nob enough for Black to finish him off.
- e. The squad escapes.

6. The squad returns to base, chased all the way by orks.
- a. The squad sets a trap for their pursuers.
- b. The squad recrosses the river, under fire.
- c. The squad returns to Helltown, and the pursuing orks are driven off.

7. Success!
- a. The squad celebrates!
- b. The squad gets in trouble again...
- c. The squad is sent out to kick more ork ass.

Rinse and repeat. Assuming this is a success, that is.

I recommend that at points 4a and 5c/d, one or more squad members are severly injured, if not killed outright.

Then it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, 'ow's yer soul?"

Agreed. We can add an NPC to take the hit, assume someone will drop out by the time we play that far, or dice for it. I'm willing to volunteer to die, if no one else is.

I'm thinking one of us could be wounded and have to be carried, because Catachans don't leave their own behind.

I would volunteer to die at that point; just don't wanna go too early.

We'll also have to dice/discuss who gets the kills on the bigger bossier characters. Me being a sniper I'll be inclined to take out big wigs with little trouble, but since that won't let you guys do it we should discuss it when we get close to it. Otherwise I like this outline and I agree that some people should die. Maybe an NPC at the traps and a player at the Nob and fight out. If need be I can die on the fight out, I've always loved writing heroic deaths tongue.gif

I would also volunteer to die, basically because Chester is going to be out front soaking up hits.

Maybe this is becoming too much of a railroad plot. Perhaps if we removed the a/b/c elements, but planned for similar sorts of events to occur and considered them examples?

Well, I think it's a good way to start off an experimentive RP. If it works out and we start a new one we can make it more twisty turny.

I think the planned out way is nice, it gives us at least something to work with instead of just running into it blind.

I have at my command an entire battle group of the Imperial Guard. Fifty regiments, including specialized drop troops, mechanised formations, armoured companies, combat engineers. Over half a million fighting men, thirty thousand tanks and artillery pieces are mine to command. Emperor show mercy to the fool that stands against me, for I shall not.

its really kind of a collaborative story if you think about it, not too many unknowns but it still gives us a chance to develop a character and have slight unknowns implemented to cause conflict and make interesting situations.

With maybe a surprise or 2 thrown in by the commanding officer, no? And while I'm here, can we create multiple characters, keep one, have the others as NPC so that we can kill our current character yet still be in the mission?

I'd rather not -- next game maybe. If you guys all agree on it, maybe.

So, it seems like the outline we have is agreeable to everyone, is that right?

If so, we can start whenever, as far as I'm concerned.

yea the sooner the better, though I am gonna need some consultation and tips, cause I'm not used to playing without at least some GM interference.

Jen, are you going to put up the RP thread soon? Or would you rather someone else did it?
