I had an idea and I just wanted to throw it out there..
Why not run a campaign based on an Imperial crusade? This could then incorperate Space Marine, Imperial Guard, Imperial Navy and Inquisitorial characters. Battle could be at a platoon/strike force level which is not that different to most games of 40K. As a crusade involves several Space Marine chapters and countless Imperial Guard formations, players could would have a wide range of possible characters to choose from. Basic characters should be no less than a Captain (or equivalent), a Chaplain or Priest, an Inquisitor, or a Librarian or Sanctioned Psyker. Imperial Guard characters could also be Comissars. In such a crusade the Imprium would ultimately be the agressor and the scope on the campaign would by no means be limited to just one world or system. -------------------- |

Woah, ElvenSlurpee said something. Crazy.
@Maverick; Such has actually been done before. They were called SRPs, or Strategic Roleplays, and featured the characters as Lord Generals Militant commanding Imperial invasions. Some games also featured small-scale combat like you were talking about. They were enormously fun, but also sheer unadulterated hell for the GMs to run. If you'd like to play in one, I'd be happy to do something. I've had a somewhat unorthodox idea kicking around in my brain for a while, and it could be done even with two players. -------------------- "Yes, makin' mock o' uniforms that guard you while you sleep

Then it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, 'ow's yer soul?" But it's "Thin red line of 'eroes" when the drums begin to roll, The drums begin to roll, my boys, the drums begin to roll, O it's "Thin red line of 'eroes" when the drums begin to roll." -Rudyard Kipling, "Tommy" |

Cool.
Here's a thought - your place or mine? I certainly don't want to steal activity away from Damage Inc. but it occurs to me that if these boards are practically dead anyway, I could just as easily create an ORPG forum on the project site.. Thoughts guys? DoLhades, I'm looking at you... -------------------- |

Steal activity? Um, what activity?
If you'd like to create a game on your site, that'd work fine for me. However, it is entirely unrelated to your project. Getting something done here is possible, if you'd rather do that. It might even draw back some old faces! -------------------- "Yes, makin' mock o' uniforms that guard you while you sleep

Yeah, I see your point.
It's not entirely unrelated to the project. Our goal is to unite BFG with 40K so as the project grows we will draw more and more attention from both communities. Like sites such as Librarium Online we strive to offer something for everyone. This is where some specific sites fail. Damage Inc. may be one of them. The BFG Project site is dynamic and constantly changing and growing. You may find it a fruitless endeavour trying to draw attention back here. We now have forums for Warhammer 40,000, 40K Online and a 40K ORPG forum for role playing. Incidentally, we are looking for Admin/Mods to run these new forums. The ORPG Admin/Mod will also have free reign to run whatever he/she chooses. The new forums are just a framework at this stage but we are happy to build them however the Admin/Mod sees fit. -------------------- |

theres one problem with your idea
i had a similar idea but how the roleplay went determined what armies would turn up in the sequel (which would be a crusade) it got ignored, somewhere its still there, being ignored -------------------- Age of Mythology Heaven Scenario Design, AI scripting and modding forums moderator.

I'm not sure that I understand your concern?
At this stage all we are looking to do is include an ORPG forum on our site to give members that option. When we release the supplement and we start running online campaigns we may include an option of linking it with ORPG. In the mean time I guess the idea could be tested and fine-tuned in the 40K ORPG forum. -------------------- |

lol
when i started there was huge activity, i put my RPG up to see if anyone would like, it, it was similar to this RPG, thing is it was ignored entirely, thing is now there is so little activity its not funny anymore every DOW or GW related site is losing activity, in the week i joined FOK activity halved, BIA has halved activity on average since i joined it, i ebcame assistant manager of its roleplay site called Warhammer Roleplay which died in a couple of months despite attempts to revive it, and my own site which has the same members as the rp one died in a day -------------------- Age of Mythology Heaven Scenario Design, AI scripting and modding forums moderator.

Maybe it's just you!
Well you're welcome to join us anyway. We have a very dedicated core team and we are frequently recruiting and growing. I think what you've been noticing are trends. Site memberships are tidal - they rise and fall. Never judge a site by it's membership statistics because the proportion of active members on the forums will vary from 2-20%, depending on how good the site is and how relevant the topics are. Take our site for example, we probably fall into the 2% catagory but we are always looking for ways to improve and encourage activity. Our new 40K forums are one such example. Now this site on the other hand probably falls below 2% which explains why it is dying. Very sad. If you choose to come on-board with us we will offer you three things: (1) You and BeRzErKeR can put your heads together and decide how you want the ORPG forum to be built and how you want to run things. (2) I will personally mentor and equip you to become ambassadors of the project, to seek-out and attract members to the project and to your forum. (3) As Admin/Mods you will have complete autonomy to run your forum how you see fit! -------------------- |

lol, the activity of this place has been nothin for the last few months, when i joined the admin had been gone a while by then and lord jacobus and bezerker here were the only two running things really
and btw shall we start posting character sheets? mine would be Lord Commissar Von Braun of the Cadian 89th alongside his unit of stormtroopers (note this is in fact my TT army and my commissar is the leader story wise, so far the stats are like this: First general (name not revealed): hit by a militia mortar shell (from his allies) Replacement general: fell out of valkyrie before he reached the 89th as it was hit by hydra fire from renegades General Gould: turned chaos, still alive but fights as the burn regiment (chaos) second in command, leader is Chaos Sorcerer lord Archaion who is Corporal Shahker (from Von Brauns squad) nemesis after making a scar on Shahkers face, the current location of the enemy leader is unknown and believed to be in the warp, rumours are they will be striking alongside the night lords at the cadian gate to cause the final chaos war of Cadia - here either the chaos lose the cadian gate for good or cadia is lost to chaos, this is also rumoured to be a distraction for an even bigger crusade being held by Abbadon at another gate nearby (since at this point the 13th crusade ended and the result cannot be revealed) also there are rumours of a huge 'nid hive fleet attacking the orks, (this is where my stories of the 89th are at atm, they can be located on the BIA site) -------------------- Age of Mythology Heaven Scenario Design, AI scripting and modding forums moderator.

I suggest that we get the new forum built and start this campaign there. What do you think? Fresh slate? -------------------- |
