It's worth noting that Rorschach came to England last January - it was a fun time, and we're looking to perhaps set up another DI meet-up. of course, it being in Europe is awkward for much of America. We could perhaps look at an American meet-up of some kind at another stage.

An American meet-up would of course include us filling out forms at the air port, including questions like "Are you or have you been part of a terrorist organisation or genocide?" (for real) and give DNA samples to be stored in a database.

Besides; England is much more central.

Says I, who have no plans on traveling.

Odd, I've never had that happen to me at the airport, post-9/11.

A local games journalist who went there had to go through it. However, everyone is subject to the DNA and photography, as far as I know. I've even seen news broadcasts showing it.

No matter: Is anyone actually going to this con or whatever it is?

The European contingent's pretty easy, what with the majority that aren't within the British Isles generally inhabiting various scandanavian peninsulae that are a short hop (sod the carbon footprint, the planet could do with scuffing up a bit, it's chic) either by boat or plane.

One of the problems of 'net communities like this, everyone's pretty globally spread, from England to Spain, Norway to Denmark, Canada, the US and even the southern hemisphere, although they don't count, they're upside down and backwards.

On a side note, Sven there scares me.

I didn't know England was that thorough.

Japan Customs had me take off my boots, field jacket and waved the "wand" over me, but that was about it, besides going through the metal detector.

Possibly from all those illegal substances you imbibe?

The reason for differences Seato is US citizens get waved through while everyone else gets anal probed.

now to Nottingham it's more than likely I will be able to attend, Although I hope not to teach you all bad habits while down there. As I'm a regular attendee of the 40K GT's, and after hours shenanigans (including once getting thrown out of Rock City, how we managed this I'm not entirely sure, although at least I didn't find any bodies in the toilet that time).

I remember when I went to Great Britain, and I saw a police officer with a bulletproof vest and what looked like an assault rifle (because something THAT big couldn't be a submachinegun). I swear, that kind of thing kinda makes you think (about places to take good cover behind, and escape routes).

You know... I'm kinda worried that looking for good cover and escape routes were my initial reactions.

I was referring to the US and their "Terrorist Archive" that is made up of every non-US citizen who enters the country. Which is why I have long had reservations about spending my vacation there.

They're only 9mm MP5 SMGs (only?!), but a lot of them have sights, torches, mags etc. added on as standard, and the way British airports are made up, pretty much nothing's bulletproof.

Normal MP5s look like this, but the modified versions the police usually carry are more along these lines.

Maybe your passport says that you're an American. Mine says that I'm a dangerous foreigner. The beard doesn't help either laugh.gif

Anyway, back on topic. So far, Listy is the only one coming? Come on, guys!

BTW, Listy, what army will you be bringing? smile.gif

Indeed. Pistol rounds. Drak has less to fear from it than from a lasgun.
