It's all a matter of practice boys and girls.
I spend atleast two hours every day painting. 7 days a week.
Working with it five days a week also helps, meaning I get to "work"/practice 8-10 hours a day five days a week ontop of my regular practice.

So don't worry Jacobus. You can get there if you wish.
Regardless of which, I think this is a pretty cool image. Clear sense of intention, nice layout.

It's a bit bright but still fairly visible.

You also did something that only seasoned proffesionals tend to do... you utilized the golden mean to set your focalpoint (maybe unintentional but that's besides the point) which means that you put the focalpoint (the flag/banner) in the exact right spot for the images composition to be optional.

That's usually a sign of talent, more often then not.

Composition is the most important of an image, that one takes skill and talent, everthing else one can learn.

Oh, Seato- I don't have a degree in art... dont worry too much about what those people told you, there are tons of proffessional artists out there that hasnt spent a single day in university/college classrooms studying art.

I find that video-tutorials and eveningclasses in anatomy, as well as good books work out well.
