Heh heh.
So, thus far, we have the following ideas: History of Abraxis Graphic Novel, based off of the past and current Abraxis System. Pros: Material is available, and already written. Easy to develop. Cons: Less focused, spans a large period of time. Deathwatch Graphic Novel, likely based on a re-written Furious Angels Pros: Would fit well on the B&C, everyone loves Space Marines. Cons: Story needs to be re-written. Congress Graphic Novel/history. Pros: Multiple idiosyncratic characters, wide range of topics. Cons: Not so applicable to the B&C, possibly too varied. Squats comic, based on humor and original story Pros: Funny, and probably easy enough to do. Cons: GW might hate us if we use them, and it may not go well with DI's objective with the comics. Myself, I favor the History of Abraxis, although I must admit to a bias. Now, before any of this can happen, we need a willing and capable artist, possible two artists. The Squat thing was just taking a pot-shot at Tom Cruise, nothing serious. Although I wouldn't mid driving that particular stick into G-W's eye. -------------------- BY ACCEPTING THIS BRICK THROUGH YOUR WINDOW, YOU ACCEPT IT AS IS AND AGREE TO MY DISCLAIMER OF ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, AS WELL AS DISCLAIMERS OF ALL LIABILITY, DIRECT, INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL, THAT MAY ARISE FROM THE INSTALLATION OF THIS BRICK INTO YOUR BUILDING.

I prefer the Congress first, and then the History of Abraxis.
The problem is, if we focus on Marines, we miss out on some of Abraxis' cool storylines. But if we don't, we don't get acceptance on the B&C. And that's why I suggested that we make a chapter centered on Space Marines, then the following ones on whatever characters/storylines are chosen. The SM one would be a hook thrown into the B&C to attract them to read the other chapters. -------------------- |

Whyd on't you do a short story cominc, with some that are totaly about marines, and then post only them up on the B&C, to lead people to read the whole comic.

Another bonus to basing the comic on either the Deathwatch or the Dark Hands is that in the case of the DW, we could feature people's DIY chapters and if we do a DH-based strip, we could feature actual members of DI as Marines.

That would add an interesting and personal twist to the comic. Each character could be a manifestation of one of us on DI. Good for some laughs

i haven't had the time to fully read this but a fellow B&Cer Aereon the Faithful is an insane artist, and if we could hook him onto the idea we'd have a wicked quality comic on our hands

It's true that he can't get into the site (which sucks), but we still can contact him through MSN. So, it's not like he's fallen off the face of the Earth.
As for official artist, I would guess that would be Seato. However, I really don't see a problem with having two artists. We would have to see what each artist can do, and try to make their skills complement each other. For example, Seato is damn wicked drawing Characters in pretty dynamic poses, but maybe another artist is very good at drawing vehicles. About Aerion, I like his style. A LOT. But I don't think Seato and him can complement each other. Their styles are too different. However, Aerion is pretty good at coloring, so maybe he could do that. But, he's busy with his and Freakforge's. A question I would like to see answered is: Do we really want to go for the Sin City style? I mean, sure, it is cool and outstanding. But, using the same format as Aerion's might hurt our "street cred", yo. Personally, I think a palette of dark colors with very few bright ones would do the trick. Brightness in power weapons and certain explosions/symbols, and that's it. Or we can go full white/black color. -------------------- |

I like the DI members vs Space Marines idea, but a pure monochromatic colour scheme doesn't sound as good as the other one you mentioned.

Why would different artists working on the comic have to complement each other? No comic artist would want you to ask them to bend to fit anothers style.
What would make a whole lot more sense would be to let each artist do their own short comic, and then put them together, not as chapters, but as a compilation of short stories. Look at any comic compilation and that's the format. And Molotov, I must respectfully disagree As for the sin city style, seriously, don't do it. Black and white is fine, loads of people do that, they just do it if they don't think colour is appropriate. But the sin city comic style has been rinsed so badly, especially since the movie release.. surely you want at least some originality? |
