My postscripts are up. I hope people enjoyed reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them. Special thanks to Nine, G8 and Sanol for letting me run a bit rampant with their character's storylines, I think the end result we came up with was brilliant.
So thus ends the Gensal chapter. I for one would like to thank Medic for running the longest and most enjoyable forum campaign I could have envisioned. Getting on towards three years worth of campaign, tens of thousands of posts, and an Epic storyline I doubt will ever be matched again. |

Well, yes, that's it, the Gensal campaign has been brought to an end. The Imperium has been victorious, admittedly at great cost. Major NPCs have been killed and several PCs have meet their demise on this Harrigan System world.
One GM hidden secret: One of the reasons that 19th Army Skaxon units were so successful was that Hearn realised that recruiting units in their tribal block would be counter productive. He simply broke them into units recruited from a large geographic area (such as northen Beltane, or the western forest, etc.) and then made the unit the new tribe where they were to focus their loyalties. It worked like a charm. Imperial efforts were solely to take Skaxon from Clanistor (who had been grown soft living the good life) and put them into units. Training was always rushed and the results were usually rather tragic. The only real unit to emerge properly from this process was the 3rd Gensal Light Infantry (then the 12th and 13th GPDF regiments). |

My thanks to the efforts of players who have solidly stuck to their part in this small saga. Especially, G8 has proven to be probably involved in just about every single SRP I've run on this board! I hope that none of you minded the liberties taken with your characters, but if you have minded, I'm terribly sorry if that's not what you had in mind for your character (especially death!).
The Gensal campaign started after discussion with a group of players, tobruk, Khryseis, Eddy, Molotov, Nine, G8 and from those small beginnings a three-year campaign was created. Of all the characters, Svenal is probably the longest lasting one not to be tarnished with crushing defeat! However, it has proven to be a rather fun and interesting series of scenarios, with each SRP designed to push the storyline along rather than have Gensal exist in some sort of 'eternal stalemate.' I think that it's far better to have the storyline actually move than trying to come up with some sort of cool background and then have all the stories exist in a stagnate world that never really moves forward. Gensal has proven to be a gripping setting for a campaign to me (whether or not you agree is fine by me) and has given quite a bit of impetus to story and character development. The endings shold reflect much of the undercurrent of themes and storylines that existed under the surface and with the epilogue it seemed the right place to bring to the surface the real reason for the downfall of Hearn and the lengths the Imperium would go to, to bring him to an end. The Van Saar thing was only recently fully formed but it always struck me as odd how some 'uber tough guy Commissar' could do such a miserable job with maintaining morale. Then it hit me, he was the ringleader of the Commissariat Clique that was behind Hearn's downfall and after 17th Army proved to be 'feckless fools' he was no longer interested in them and was content to see them rot. All this for failing him... Well I hope you've all enjoyed it (mostly, unless your character was gunned down |

Lt Gen Ibraxim subsequently led the 742nd Corps attack on pursuing enemy forces.

I'm up for the questionary, and psyched-up for another SRP. ^ ^
It was a lot of fun to see how the game evolved (not so much to see how we got steam-rollered), and I think we have all learnt some more about military tactics and such. Nice job, you magnificent bastards! I read your RPs! Also, Oderstein lives. WOOT! Sorry, Ak! ^ ^ This post has been edited by Drakkar Windrider on Sep 26 2006, 01:03 PM -------------------- |

My actual favorite part of the game was the middle chunk. We were working together (okay, I was cracking the whip and everyone else was jumping), we had a handle on what was going on, and nothing catastrophic was occuring on either side. Once I gave up command though, things started to slip.
