a question about those assualt landers, couldn't we set up temporary HQs in them? They are heavily armoured and equipped. That way we have our leaders safe and well in the mid of combat.

And reduces the number of troops able to be delivered into the combat zone.

I would imagine the assault landers will be needed back in orbit also.

I beleive there were some Assault landers over, but correct me if I am mistaking. I mean, when you want to have a good part of the commanding officers on the ground you can spare one assualt lifter. Or am I mistaking?

Another worry, is the whole bridge thing.

The mission profile sounds alarmingly close to that of Market garden, and it is causing some concern to me.

You're asking hte troops to drop and then march over broken terrain, Size a bridge then demo it.

On the route in if they bump into an enemy unit the plan dies in it's tracks. I've also got the feeling that this is a one way mission or the troops involved. Their chances of getting out if pursued are effectivly nil.

I could take a crack at the bridges if I had an other wing of Maurders. Or failing that, I can take care of them eventualy with the forces I have avalible at the moment.

That problem is quite significant, I have to agree with you.

Is it possible that we could use any Valks or Chimera groups for doing evac missions at all? Or would this be claspsing at straws?

EDIT: If we can't do that, I'd go with your suggestion for bombing the bridges with the Marauders. Might be risky in places near AA batteries, but it might be necessary to keep the larger ground forces intact.

The Valkyries that deploy the special forces would be responsible for evacuating them from their target zones. Also the specfor 'route in' will likely be less than a kilometer for certain targets. In some instances the operators might be able to land 'on top of' the bridge itself.

It might be nice for the starport to be in friendly hands so that if the operators do get into a bit of trouble, they aren't returning to another hornet's nest.

Right, second post so far, sorry for not being very active with planning, but WoW keeps sucking up a much larger part of my spare time then what is healthy for me!

I have had however quite a lot of time at work to think about this SRP, and I will be playing this more RP then SRP, meaning I will try to stick to my character more then in any previous of my RP's.

That said, Special Corps units will most likely remain together, and unless a very good reason (direct order) is given, my character will order his units based on the personality I created, this mean I will almost always order troops to be cautious, and not directly engaging enemy forces before gathering intel etc.

I just have one question, (did not really find this anywhere)
Where does 13th Army's commander plan to drop 742nd corps?

Your Corps is mentioned, but in Roman Numeral form, so it reads as DCCXLII, if I remember correctly.

Okay, to sum up what I believe is the current plan of action:

First Wave:

XIII Corps lands on the spaceport and goes into action immediately to secure it and mop up any defenders or threats.

XC Corps inserts via para/grav-chute onto the primary routes to and from the spaceport, and holds them against all attackers.

VI Corps lands to reinforce XC Corps and strengthen the cordon around the spaceport.

Ad-hoc Corps, consisting of the 111th Miphan, 209th Miphan, 16th Joridan, and 119th Kassirine land to reinforce VI and XC Corps while further strengthening the cordon around the Spaceport.

Army Special Forces deploy via Valkyrie to destroy all bridges possible, then exfiltrate by Valkyrie to the nearest Imperial strongpoint. Some SF will be deployed to gather intelligence, and the best troops for this role have been determined to be the A/1st/50th Stormtrooper Regiment.

Alright, guys. LIth's PM'd me and asked that we get our first orders in on Fri/Sat Australian Time (GMT +11). This means we need to be 100% satisfied as soon as possible.

Darth, Khel and Nine, I'll be looking to talk to you ASAP on MSN.

Right, do I have to wait before being deployed (and told what to do!) before posting my orders? or should I post some general orders based on what my character think is likely to transpire?
