The number one most frequently asked question is:

"How do I get a picture in my signature?"

Well, I will now go through a step-by-step illustrated diagram of how to do just that, so pay attention!

Step One: Go to Imageshack

Step Two: Click "Browse"

Step Three: Find the image on your computer that you want to use in your signature and click "Open"

Step Four: Once you have selected the image of your choice, click "Host It"

Step Five: Once the image is uploaded, copy the "Direct Link" URL for the image

Step Six: Back on DPO, go to "My Controls"

Step Seven: Then go to "Edit Signature"

Step Eight: Now paste the URL of the image you copied earlier into the signature box -- don't forget the image tags; make sure there are no spaces between the tags and the URL, don't forget the slash in the second tag, etc.

Step Nine: Click "Update Signature"

...and voilą!

Try not to make the images HUGE -- especially if you're just using a plain screenshot. A good ideal pixel-wise would probably be 400x200, and that's pushing it. If you need a picture resized, ask someone to resize it for you...ahem, ahem... ;)

Anyway, I officially never want to hear another question about acquiring a sig pic. If you can't figure it out based on these directions, please quickly remove yourself from the gene pool.

To get an avatar -- which a lot of people also ask about --, follow Steps One through Five, except instead of clicking "Edit Signature", click on "Edit Avatar Settings" and paste the URL into the "Enter a URL to an online avatar image" box.

If you're looking to make an animated avatar from one that isn't, you'll need to either obtain a GIF-editing program or nicely ask someone who already has one -- ;) -- to do it for you.

To edit your custom title -- that text right below your avatar -- go to "My Controls", then "Edit Profile Info", and the box for "Custom Member Title" should be at the very top.

To change the time settings to match your local time, go to "My Controls" then "Board Settings"; then use the drop-down box to find your time zone. With this board, it's mad easy because the descriptions of each are very precise.

If there is a n00b that is annoying you...well, join the damn club. Nine out of ten members on DPO are n00bs. You might just be one yourself. There was another post about n00bishness, but I'll gladly reiterate the basic signs here:

• Poor spelling and grammar
• Apathy about spelling and grammar
• Typing in all capital letters or not using capital letters at all
• Posts of three words or less
• Rampant use of smilies, or only using smilies
• Apathy or rebelliousness toward forum rules
• Repeated violations of forum rules
• A general thick-headedness, even when confronted about the above on several occasions

DPO does tolerate slashes and slashing, but The Ghost Sector is a forum much better suited for these.

Lessee...I think that's about it for now. I'll add more later.

Edit no. 1: ...and ANOTHER thing, also about sigs: if you have a bigger pic that you REALLY want in your sig, then either ask someone who has a pic-editing program to resize it for you, OR go here. I reiterate: a good sig size is 500 x 190, MAX (not including separate text).
