The Sigh Everlasting

[Phedre]

Phedre sat on the crimson stone steps of her temple, complete and utter death surrounding her. Dried up and shrivled black roses lay at her feet and a blood red, satin cloak rested heavy on her shoulders. Her jet black hair was down and loose as normal as she rested her chest on her knees.

It was silent around her, only the constant drip of blood from her sacrifices echoes across the courtyard. She let out a sigh of frustration and wipe the trail of a tear from her cheek. Her tear of course, was not a normal salt water tear. A trail of crimson blood was left after she wiped it away, staining her otherwise flawless complextion.

[Raku]

He walked up behind her and placed his hand on her back. "Why are you crying?" He sat down next to her.

He turned her to face him. He took part of his cloak and wiped off the staining blood. "Is there something wrong?" He stared at her with a blank expression on his face.

[Phedre]

She got to her feet quickly stumbling backwards, almost ending up on the ground again.

"My Lord," she breathed not meeting his eyes, "I'm sorry I did not know you were here." She wiped her cheeks, not realizing that he had cleaned her of the stain. "Can I get you anything? Food? Drink?" She still didn't meet his eyes, "A room?"

She took a deep breath and looked up at him finally. Her face was flushed with embarassment.

"You're welcome to stay the night of course."

Her amber eyes stared into his own shadowy one, transfixed, unblinking.

What's wrong with me...

[Raku]

"No I need nothing"

He looked into her eyes.

"You still never told me what was wrong why were you crying"

He sat closer to her. "Now I have another question, why would I need a place to stay?" He smiled with a unusually pleasent smile, for him at least.

[Phedre]

She tried to side step the first question with a weak excuse, "I was not crying, My Lord," she said softly, not meeting his eyes, "I have a cut, it was blood from there." She knew he wouldn't belive her, but it was worth a try.

She watched him smile and felt a wave of shivers course through her viens like a pleasent impulse.

"If you were tired My Lord," she said quickly, trying to think of something that made sense, "Or..." she paused a moment and bowed to him, "if you would want to request an evening in my presence."

She looked up at him with her own smile flickering on her lips.

"But that is, of course, at your request. I do whatever to make you comfortable, My Lord," she decided to finally say his name, "Raku."

[Raku]

He laughed. "Well anything to make me comfortable, now why can't the other Gods be like you?" He smiled at her.

"And you cut yourself?"

He laughed. "You think I would fall for that?"

[Phedre]

She bit her bottom lip and shrugged lightly.

"Worth a try I suppose."

She hoped he would leave it there, there was no possible way she knew how to explain. She looked up and him and smiled, any trace of her saddness minutes hence dissappearing.

"And you swear to me as the God of Darkness and Ruler of theses lands, that there is nothing you need or want right now?" she asked with a raised brow.

[Raku]

He laughed slighly. "That's only half true, see I always want more."

He stared at her eyes. "Like for instance I want you." He then turned away.

"I meant...Uh darn." He then slowly turned back to her and gave a weak smile.

[Phedre]

She wasn't expecting what she heard and sat stunned for a good 10 seconds. She tucked a few strands of jet black hair behind her ear.

"You what?" She couldn't help but smile.

After life-ages of lonliness, and Raku accepting her as a Goddess and a half-dragon... it was an amazing shock.

[Raku]

"Oh you heard that did you." He turned his head away from her.

"Please I didn't mean to say that." He looked back at her and smiled. "Ok so maybe I did, but ......" He stopped and then soflty said "good going now how do I get myself out of this one?"

He looked into her eyes. "Well no point in lying, I said I want you." He gave a nervous looking smile.

[Phedre]

Her thoughts danced around from aide to side.

He didn't mean it? Oh wait, he did? He DOES?

She couldn't help but smile, keeping her one eyebrow raised. She gazed back into his own trying to read some sort of truth in them. His smile should have said enough, Raku never smiled.

"I wasn't sure if I had heard you correctly," she said softly, her gaze never turning from his eyes.

She wasn't sure what she was supposed to do, or how she was to move on it, so she just sat there with a crimson lipped smile dancing in the shadows between them.

[Raku]

He then looked around nervously. Then he quickly brought her close to him and kissed her lips, then turned away.

"Well does that tells you that you heard me correctly. "

He looked back at her. "Sorry if I shocked you right then, it's just that.....well you know."

[Phedre]

She closed her eyes, accepting the breif kiss. After he back away again she let out a soft laugh. "I do believe that insures my hearing," she smiled.

She shook her head at his last comment. "No need to appologize," she began, her hand running instinctivly through her hair, "It was a good shock..."

She watched him for a moment, her amber eyes turning to a bright blood red. Any memory of her tears were better than forgotten.

[Raku]

"Really."

He looked in to her eyes. "Well then may I have another?"

He smiled then waited for her next move.

[Phedre]

She didn't reply verbally. She she blinked once slowly and leaned forward again, her eyes closed. She met his lips once more, holding it longer.

She smiled at him when the kiss broke, and bit slightly at her bottom lip.

She awaited his own response, her heart pounding in her ears.
