Silvia jogged through the expected downpour to her Honda Fit, the last car in the parking lot. She had stayed late to grade papers, which were now getting rained on in her arms. She dropped her bag on the wet concrete ten feet away from her car.

"Crap," she mumbled, turning around and shifting her papers to her other hand to scoop up her bag. She unlocked her car and flung herself inside, tossing everything into the passenger seat, the essays on the Romantic Period littering the floor. She sighed, this was one of those days. Silvia turned on the car, buckled her seatbelt, turned up the radio, flipped the heater on, and backed out of her space, leaving the parking lot.

As she drove down the Highway, something huge darted out in front of her car, so fast she never saw what it was and couldn't have possibly hit it, yet she swerved off the road, hydroplaned, and hit a huge tree, jackknifing the passenger side of the car. Air bags deployed, and she survived.
