As soon as he stepped onto the Willow Way, Shannon was hit by the scents of the wood. He didn't let this distract him for long though, and soon he was deciding if there were any Pokemon he particularly wanted to catch here. He thought for a moment and decided that he might find a Pinsir here. He could also find a Cacnea or a Tropius if he was lucky. He decided to release his Pokemon so he could tell them how he expected things done.
He released both of his Pokemon, Cephal and Jigjig and the pair stood there blinking for a moment. Shannon knelt down and briefly smiled. "OK you two, listen. I'm going to take care of you but you're going to have to work hard, got it?" he said gently. The two Pokemon nodded hesitantly. Shannon straightened up and another brief smile swept quickly over his lips. He really did care for his Pokemon and he knew they'd fight hard for him. Now to catch the Pokemon he wanted.

Suddenly, something bumped into the back of your head before it continued to fly off, floating on a light breeze blowing through just now. Aha! Look at that, Trainer, it's a Hoppip! You'd better go and take it down before it's able to fly out of your reach!

Shannon frowned angrily as the Hoppip bumped into him. He didn't want a Hoppip. They were remarkably weak Pokemon and unlike other weak Pokemon like Magikarp and Caterpie, they didn't evolve to any particularly powerful levels. It would be good practice though. Shannon recalled Cephal, leaving Jigjig to fight this battle.
"OK Jigjig. Jump and use Iron Tail to send it to the ground. Then, use Dragon Rage to keep it down." Shannon roared, instantly caught in the thrill of the battle. Obeying orders, Jigjig leapt into the air after the Hoppip and flipped over in mid air so that his tail was above Hoppip. It started to glow as Jigjig got ready to bring it down.

Jigjig slammed his now metal-hard tail into the Hoppip, slamming the little Pokemon to the ground. He then blew out a firey...something, which flew around the surprised Hoppip and doing additional damage!

It seemed that Jigjig had done a fair deal of damage, but then something horrifying happened, and Hoppip used Synthesis, healing most of it's HP! Oh, no!

Shannon cursed silently. Hoppip's attack was Synthesis and as long as the sun was shining, it meant the battle would go on for a while. Suddenly, Shannon realized that although he couldn't chaange the weather, he could block it out.

"Jigjig, use Smokescreen up at the sky. Block out the sun. And try to keep Hoppip on the ground with Bite" Shannon commanded. Not only would the smoke stop Synthesis from working, but since plants didn't like smoke, it might make Hoppip weaker.

At that moment, Shannon felt a dark force creaping up on him from behind. He could see mysterious shadows whipping around in the corner of his eye. His brain screamed at him to turn around but his feet were rooted to the ground.

And then, it dissapeared as suddenly as it had come. The only mark that it had ever been there was a Pokeball containing a Dark Cleffa named Boochi.

As you had been distracted by this shadow, Jigjig had done his job, blacking out the sky above and then crushing the poor little Grass Pokémon in his jaws. However, while the two were stuck so close, your little opponent threw some seeds onto Jigjig. Oh, dear, it's Leach Seed!

Almost instantly, another shadow came from his Poké Ball and flew at his pack. Shannon felt the slight loss of weight as the shadow ate the onigiri and Boochi evolved into Clefairy.

"Jigjig, use Dragon Dance and then follow it with a Dragon Claw attack," Shannon commanded. He knew he couldn't do a thing about the seeds yet but if he finished the battle quickly, the seeds would fall away when Hoppip was knocked out.
