I had an hour to spare today so i decided to blow the dust off 1 of the many Linux cd's i recieved just before Christmass and install the 64bit operating system. Well to cut a long story short Liunux has misplaced 3/4 of my hardrive so now instead of having 200 gig avaliable i now only have 46.5 gig. Now on this 46.5 gig i rekon i have a full install of both linux and windows and the other files associated with each o.s, so to my knowledge the other 163.5 gig should be empty, i would just like to know how to reclaim it lol. Btw a reformat is out of the question atm as linux has set my comp to boot from the hardrive and not cd as usual which is a bit of a pisstake. Any help would b appriciated cheerz

I know linux sets up 2 partitions, one for the OS and one for a swap file. Maybe the swap file has consumed as much space as it could, if not specified. Google will help with altering it size if thats what it is.

I remember installing Linux on my laptop and needing KillDisk to format my HDD to get rid of it, lol. Never again biggrin.gif

Cheers.

ok ive had a slight change of heart now and ill keep linux for the craic as i have too many files to lose with a reformat, i have found out all i need to do to reclaim most of my hd from linux is to change the size of the partition that it created after the install, it took 138 gig and then only used 3.9 and then took another 1.4 gig for "Linux Swap2" and then only left 46.2 gig for windows. All i have to do to fix my space problems is to reduce the linux partition and increase the windows one. This can be done easily with many harddrive utilities just i need to find a free one any ideas?
