Title: Update for April 11th

Fox - April 11, 2009 02:11 AM (GMT)
Itty bitty video, but hopefully enjoyable. This was a last second idea.

takeshita_kenji - April 11, 2009 03:43 AM (GMT)
I sure enjoyed that one. It was quite funny, but I'm still not sure why.

Here's to your recovery from that last comment!

Kuroshiro448 - April 11, 2009 03:52 AM (GMT)
Eh? where is it << ^^ >>

El Nerdo Loco - April 11, 2009 07:40 AM (GMT)
You just wanted a chance to make up your own side effects. Still awesome, though! I wonder how much the system costs... If it causes communism, it can't be cheep.

PyroVulpes - April 11, 2009 08:01 AM (GMT)
So, Fox, just how does it feel to be slapped in the face with a pork-pendulum? :P

I thought it was quite the funny video, but my rather, um, "large" friend wasn't so amused with it.

The point of the video ISN'T to make fun of Fat people, it's a shot at the media for cramming messages like this down our throats every single day during every commercial break. It's really... unneccesary and damaging to a person's self esteem. The comic was supposed to draw attention to the media.

Well, there's really no other point to a commercial then to create a feeling of dissatisfaction in it's viewer so the viewer tries to fix it by buying their stuff. If you're trying to sell something that is meant to alter that person's appearance, then hurting said person's self esteem is the only way that the commercial would work... It's dumb, really, but the media's not gonna stop wanting more money.

Please put a drinks warning on it.

Fortunately I aimed into a nearly empty glass I was holding when the side effects list came up.

Timely movie, I really don't want to see another "Obey" lardass ad or the before and after pictures, especially when some of the afters make you wish for the befores.

El Nerdo Loco - April 11, 2009 07:50 PM (GMT)
You know those commercials that show weight loss by having a person wear a pair of pants with room for two? I wonder who makes those pants. It'd be the ultimate in depressing things to have produced in a sweat shop! Working in harsh conditions all day just so people who spend more on food in a week than you earn in a year do not go around pantless. *shudders as a result of mental images* Actually, it may be worthy work after all.

theBSDude - April 11, 2009 09:09 PM (GMT)
I'm curious now... any chance we could get a hint about the original idea?

James StarRunner - April 11, 2009 09:18 PM (GMT)
And strangely enough, guess what ad I saw on the page for this week's comic, right above the video...

Oh, and the faulty thoughts was an epic success this week!

that is another reason why I stopped watching T.V. so much.... other than the fact that there is NOTHING on thats good.

Honestly, I think "Weapons of Ass Destruction" Made me laugh more than the comic itself.

Ick... I was so underweight (due to illness not choice) a few years ago that I was 107 lbs... I'm 6'0.

That's nothing. I lost half a stone when I had a temperature once for 4 days. not just any 4 days, but the 4 days just before christmas, so the 21st to 25th. I had a temperature of 39.5'C, and I stayed in bed and lived off lucozade the whole time.

Did you know that lucozade is ade by Glaxosmithkline? or that original lucozade may stain, while orange lucozade doesn't? Yeah - I got really bored. Thank god for paracetamol!

Then you can gain like 40 pounds now...AND THEREīs NOTHING SHE COULD DO ABOUT!!!

I have a friend that studies kind of media design. He says itīs standard today to make people feel bad so they will buy your stuff. He also told me that some TV shows aim for "hate-audience" sometimes you zap around watching stuff thatīs so stupid that you can hear Einstein crying in his grave, and you tell yourselve "What the hell is this?" and you really watch that show...I couldnīt believe him, but now everything makes sense^^

Meh, and Easter let me gain maybe one kilo...ouch...after vacation I have to start with sport again this year :P

Whoah... that is not healthy. Were you involved in a horriefic accident and lose all your limbs and most of your internal organs or something? 'coz that's the only way that could be possible without you being rendered down to a skeleton! and even then you would struggle to get that thin.

And don't worry about me being thin, I have a perfectly normal weight of 12 stone. my body just burnt loads of fat to live and to keep on heating itself up because of my fever.

And by the way, (last rant) by "Thank god for paracetamol" I meant that without it, I would be dead. you will die if your body hits 41'C, so I was just 1.5'C off dead. considering I'd already gone up 2 and a bit, that was really dangerous. However, I took two caplets of paracetamol (2X500mg=1g of paracetamol) and my fever broke a couple of hours later. It came back, of course - hence the 4 days in bed, but not as bad.

theBSDude - April 14, 2009 02:49 AM (GMT)
How much is a stone?

As an American, I understand pounds best, but as an engineer, I'm not bad with kilos.

Ya know, it's funny, even though I'm Canadian, I still understand pounds better than kilos. And yet, all my other measurements are usually in metric. However, I too am completely lost when speaking in "stones."

Now, according to this lovely site, 1 stone is equal to 14 pounds. :P

It was something considering that I nearly died from it. I could literally place my hands around my middle and have my fingers and thumbs touch. The doctors didn't think I would have enough energy left to recover even if the surgery they did on me was successful. I had to be fed via intravenous since my guts were cut open.

So you lost about 7lbs then?... This was 60lbs dude, no contest. I was already quite slender already before that weight came off. That's more than 4 stones. The only thing you got on me is that I never heard of stones as a measurement or Glaxosmithkline.

Whoah... my massive slimming pales in comparision to that...

My scales uses stones, and Glaxosmithkline (wiki link here) is a UK-based pharmaceuticals company, which also makes toothpaste, lucozade and aspirin.

The vid was relatively funny and for the most part i liked it but it quite possibly pushed a little too far. actually it almost sounded genuinely hatefull since there weren't any giant squirrels. the weapon of ass descruction bit was probably the best.

XD Rectal dementia. The only way that could ever not be funny is if it was a real disease. Great job!

but what is it on the moon?

how many seconds are there in a year?

how many frames were there in wallace and gromit: the wrong trousers?

Calbeck - April 22, 2009 06:19 AM (GMT)
Trick question: neither Gromit nor Wallace would willingly frame one another in any sort of criminal activity.

but what is it on the moon?

The moon has 83.3% less gravity than the earth, so about 2.3 lbs.

QUOTE
how many seconds are there in a year?

31,536,000 in a normal year, 31,622,400 in a leap year.

QUOTE
how many frames were there in wallace and gromit: the wrong trousers?

Wikipedia states the film contained 24 frames per second of animation. It seems this was a rather short movie and lasted about 30 mins. So, there were about 43,200 frames in it total.

That works. I know nothing about Linux, and the only programing language I ever learned to use was QBASIC. So long as I have no idea what you are talking about, I cannot become curious about it.
