The same thing happened to my scanner last week, strangely enough. I've been using that HP Photosmart C3180 since long before Kawa-kun started, but now it stops mid-scan and repeats the same pixels as the last line it's able to scan all the way to the end of the image.

It's hard to say what the problem really is, but I've opted for a new (cheaper at $90) scanner without the all-in-one stuff.

I hope you'll be able to do something to keep it moving on; is there anything I could do to help short of donating more money or a new scanner?
