The deadline is nearing for those that received a message from me about getting in the 2012 fantasy league this year. If you played the fantasy game several times last year, then you got a message from me with an invite to play in this year's game. Many of you have replied back with a yes. You guys are in for sure. I have still not heard back yet from a few of you though. Your deadline is growing closer. This year's league will be limited to 25 players. So far I have commitments from 13 players. When I reach the deadline this week, i will be opening things up to accept anyone that would like to play on a first come first serve basis.

So here we go. The deadline for those that got an invite is Wednesday night at midnight. After that, it's open to everyone. So if you are interested in playing, you may now begin requesting a spot. You can post it on here, send me an email, send me a PM, or however else you can get a hold of me. Please note that it will cost a one time fee of $20 this year. This will be your ticket for all season long. Cash prizes will be awarded this year so you may get your money back plus a lot more. A new exciting format is in the works with all the details coming soon. This is going to be completely different than anything we've done before. So get your name in here now if you want to join the fun.

Dromer 84, JD10, and CRUMRACIN03, welcome to the league. You guys are in. There are only 5 people that I am waiting on til the deadline on Wednesday night. So with that said, let's add it up at this point. I said we had 13 signed up initially. We are still waiting on a decision on 5 people that were given early invitations. With these 3 new additions, that gives us 16 that are signed up total right now. If all 5 people sign up that we are waiting on, that will just put us at 21 total. Therefore, we need at least 4 more people, possibly 9 more if all 5 of them don't sign up. Remember, it will be $20 to play this year but that will cover you for the entire season.

We will be starting league play right at the beginning of the figure 8 racing season this year too. There will be no waiting around til the month of May this time. That is why I am trying to get everything in order early. I will have info about when the money needs to be due very soon. Everyone will need to be paid up by a certain date or else I will boot you out and pick up an alternate.

?Where do we send the money and when is it due/

All right, you guys that have signed up can go ahead and send me the money via check in the mail or cold cash in person. Whichever works the best for you. I'm going to be strict on getting the money in on time so that we don't have some freeloaders trying to play without paying for most of the season. The deadline is going to be March 4th. If I don't have your money by then, I will drop you and pick up the first person on the waiting list. That person will then have one week to get me the money or I will go to the next in line. For those of you that live in the "Sportsdrome" area, you will have the chance to get the money to me in person at the track on the two picture days. Those days are Saturday March 3rd and Sunday March 4th from 1 to 4. For all that need to send it through the mail, here is the address:

What is it folks? Is it that people are afraid to play this game because they are not sure what they are getting into? Some people I talk to don't want to play because they say that they don't know anything about the other tracks that they don't go to. But it really don't take much to learn who is doing good just by looking at the weekly results and the point standings. And by reading some of the gossip here on Race8 don't hurt either. But let's take a little sneak peek at how this year's format is going to be as far as picking drivers each week.
If you like going to one track and you don't know much about the others, then this year's game will better suit you. This year, each week you will need to pick 3 drivers from a different division that you think will win that week. Depending on who is running that week, you will be able to pick from any of these divisions:
Sportsdrome Xtreme 8
Sportsdrome Dromer 8
Sportsdrome FWD 8
Speedrome Late Model 8
Speedrome Stock 8
Speedrome Hornet 8
IOFS Outlaw 8
Anderson FWD 8
Flat Rock F8

Therefore, if the Sportsdrome is running all 3 figure 8 divisions, you can just pick a driver from each one. With the exception of Derby week, at least 2 of them are always running. And there is enough talk on here to know what's going on in the Speedrome Late Models. I mean, when in doubt, pick one of the Tunnys. :D

Guess I need to do some more hyping up of the game. All right, how about this. You, the player, will be a virtual racer. Envision each week of the game as a feature race. You will start the race according to how you finished the previous race(week). If you finished in last place, you will start on the pole(1st pick) the following week. If you finished next to last, then you will start in the 2nd position and so on down the line. This of course means that the winner of the feature will start on the tail. Details on how we will do the timing of the picks are forthcoming.
As I said in the other post, you will get to pick 3 drivers from the list of divisions racing that week. You can only pick one driver per division. As the picks are chosen down the line, you cannot have the same exact 3 drivers picked as anyone else. With the wide variety of divisions to choose from, there should be plenty of good choices and strategies to think about.
Come on racers. I know you're out there. Get those engines started and get in the race. Five spots remain in the starting lineup. :)g

how a bout a driver draft

That is a possibility. I have thought about that but I don't have it in the works right now. I think I'm going to give this format a try and see how it goes. All suggestions are welcome though.

We will still be able to have the league the way I want to do it if we don't get the full 25. I'm going to adjust the payoff according to how many we actually have playing in the league. We will probably go with a top 4 payoff for each months game with the winner getting $40. The Race8 Chase at the end of the season would be for about $80 plus a trophy.

Planning on having 20 racers(players) at this time. I will still pick up no more than 5 more if anyone else decides to join in before we get started. So right now we can move forward with what we have. So get those entry fees sent in to me if you are an out of towner. If you are a local, let me know what you are going to do about your payment. Once again, I will be at the Sportsdrome for both Picture Days this coming Sat and Sun from 12 to 4.

Ok guys, so far I only have money from 8 of you. That means that there's 12 more that need to get that entry fee in to me. Time seems to be moving quick right now as the beginning of the season is fast approaching. If you don't get your money into me by the first week, you will have to start on the tail that week. :)s

We've got one racer that has decided to scratch for the year. RatedRfig8star has dropped out of the competition. I'd love to have at least 20 racers for the league so how bout it. Who wants to step up and enter the league as our 20th racer?

Ok we have picked one more up but have lost one too. Crumracin03 is now out of the league but we have picked up Casper. This now puts us at 19 players. I would like to see an even 20, so if anybody else wants to play, give me a shout.
