Very impressed with this group of drivers.
1. Doug Greig 434 Laps/ You know its your year when you take the lead, have a hard intersection crash, and drive away with scratches on your bumper. 2. Casey White 431 Laps/ The monkey is off his back. Casey finally got some luck in this race. Very impressive run.Great way to cap off a very impressive season. 3. Danny Smith 418 Laps/ Mr. Consistant, this guy just turns laps. Someone told me he had not sat in a figure 8 car in over a year. He struggled to get in the field, but made it all pay off in the end. Congrats on the great run! 4. Robbie Loving 418 Laps/ Another quiet drivers out there turning fast laps. I think he was just as surprised at the end of the night. 5. Jay Henson 416 Laps/ Good finish for a good guy. Jay don't ever let anyone tell you that you do not belong at this track. 2 impressive runs in a row. Can not wait to see you guys back next year. The improvments you made in just 1 year are impressive. I want to thank each and every driver for putting on a great show for us fans. This is my favorite race of the year. 6. Mike St. John 395 Laps/ Could have loaded the car up like several others, but didn't. Fixed the car and came back out. Drivers like you are what make this special. 7. Derick Anson 388 Laps/ I like others thought u were in over your head. You proved all of us wrong. Can not wait to see you run a few short races. 8. Eddie Rogers 386 Laps/ Another impressive rookie run. Solid results all season, but was not expecting this good of a finish. Right mentality for this race. A future threat. 9. Jeremy Vanderhoof 362 Laps/ Drove the wheels off his car. proved that a v6 can run with the big boys. Would love to see what you could do with that car with a few weeks of practice at this track. O Ya LOVE THE SOUND! 10. Nigel Peters 334 Laps/ Can not wait to see this kid in a late model. He is going to be a force. 11. Art Groulx 323 Laps/ Heck of a run! Just need some luck in that qualifier race next year. 12. Chris Green 288 Laps/ For all of the issues 12th place finish is not bad at all. Think he ended up lossing a tranny in the end. 13. Don Eslick 284 Laps/ you guys worked your tail off all weekend. Solid result. The car picked up speed all weekend as well. 14. Chris Harmon 269 Laps/ Running 2nd when you went out. To still finish 14th is awsome! I wonder what would have happened if the motor would not have blown. 2nd for sure. -------------------- JR Rouse

One guy I was impressed with you didnt mention was Ben Tunny. He was dominating the race, then he hit the stalled car of Mike Burgess, he was up 5 or 6 laps, but me, and im pretty sure everyone else thought we wouldnt see him again, but him and his crew went to the back and worked there tail off, and with about 25 min left, he came storming out of the pit gate and added 20-30 more laps, just gotta say good job Ben, maybe next year you will take your second.

I was just about to post something about Ben. That's that never say die mentality that these guys have. We talked about that last year with some of these guys. That's the fun of this race. It's an enduro. Get as many laps in as you can. This race only happens once a year so get out there and feel the experience. Hats off to so many of the drivers that had good runs this year.
That was classic Danny Smith out there. Get lots of laps but nothing flashy. Good to see Casey White have a good run in this race. He's had a great year so it was good for him to have a good 3 hour. I'm with Tater about Derek Anson. Just an incredible run for him. I figured he would crash out early in the race, but he just kept going and making good moves several times to get out of trouble. Nice job. Super run for Eddie Rogers. I talked to him last month on that Wednesday race and he is a real class act. I had to come over after the race and congratulate him on a great run and 8th place finish. He definitely gained alot of experience this season and in this race alone. I hope he can continue to make progress and be one of the frontrunners before long. Congrats to Jeremy Vanderhoof for winning the Stock bonus. No matter about the car and all that, the guy ran a great race. I can't recall him getting in any altercations to speak of. Just ran smart and clean and took home the money. Maybe more of those v6's should come down and challenge him next year. Art Groulx. Another solid run for this guy. It amazes me though how he can go and finish this race 2 years in a row with a strong showing, but can't ever seem to finish even a 50 lap race at the Sportsdrome. Tough luck for the Harmons this year. Mark and Chris were solid contenders no doubt. They both had cars that could have won it. Also, it looked like Charlie Hargraves was going to have a shot at it when he appeared on the board in 3rd for a while. Good run for him. -------------------- |

first all i want to thank all the my crew and family for letting me try and fulfill my dreams of being a world figure 8 champion, came close but unfortunately this is not a game of horseshoes...lol...we were always told that an out of towner would never when this race under this promoter, though we laughed it off and said there is no way they can predict that, i was proven wrong this weekend. .next what i want to discuss is how i was screwed with all weekened. first in my qualifier i was in a transfer spot with a fellow west coaster in front of me...when i realized i couldnt get around him without "roughing" him up i decided to just try and protect where i was running so to not ruin his weekend nor mine. with 2 laps to go..Leanard Basham, a local....yeah not a regular but someone I consider a local because he has raced at that track earlier this season, i dont even think he should be considered an out of towner, decided to ruin my weekend and directly drive thru me to get the transfer spot, boy how proud can he be to know thats how he got into the 3 hr...the end result is i didnt transfer, so i had to qualify in......i have a real hard time time laying down two good laps at my home track so at the drome i knew it would be difficult. low and behold i didnt make it in, started 33rd, first alternate. the game plan as of then was just to ride around and not destroy the car. i went out and the changes my crew made and me getting more seat time at the track the car felt really good and i could feel myself passing more cars each and every lap.at about the 1 45 mark i notice my car number up on the billboard behind the 33 and 44...i couldnt believe it....i then said game on......we went a few more laps and i notice the 44 car went up in smoke and pulled off so i ran a around a few times to see the monitor would change to 2nd but when it didnt i was told by my crew to pull off and get gas and tires....when i came back to the track the monitor then said 33, 41, 016....then after a couple laps it changed to 33, 41, 1....i then said to myself i can do this......after about 5 laps the monitor went black for a few laps and the next line was 33, 41, 016.....and it stayed that way till the end , after i passed the 016 car about 8 times it never change.....while the radio and webcast were still listing me as 3rd place...when the checkers flew they announce me as 3rd, the web and radio said i was 3rd, but the final results were 5th....with 416 laps.....we protestested the results with proof i had done more laps, we had a lap counter on my car which one of my crew members had the transponder in his pocket and stood all night right by the tv monitor entering the north turn showed i done 422 laps, and i never once circled the crossover. when we showed it to the drome officials they immediately said they watched me circle the north end a few times and they are the official scorers and nothing else counts. there is no argument on scoring. i asked then why did the radio and webcast announce i was 3rd....my family back home heard it and numerous other people, they said the announcer doesnt run the program and is not official. this leaves a very bad taste in my mouth, we spent a lot of money to travel out there and to be treated this way was terrible. 5th place was a big accomplishment for me , but top 3 in the WORLD FIGURE 8 CHAMPIONSHIP would be a huge accomplishment and be pretty high up on my resume.....unfortunately this has made a major decision on behalf of my crew and family unless we get an all expense paid trip out there next year, you probably wont see team california anymore. ive met alot of friends and still will stay in contact with most, but it was PROVEN that a REAL out of towner doesnt have a chance for the win.
sorry my rant is so long but its been eating at me since the drop of the checkered flag. Jay Henson driver Outlaw #1 |

ye things could be different for sure. the transponders seem to magically shut off toward the end of the race. you have to be on the good side of the track
Not sure what the deal was at the 2 hour mark I had been staying the hell out of everyone's way with a very ill handling and clutchless car. just turning enough to get 1k. waving everyone to the outside in the north end and inside on the south end. once you got your nose on me I gave to the corner to diamond off. again if it was my fault im sorry but I though everyone could see the hands and was obvious. good run henson that thing looked like it had been through hell and back but was still driving. -------------------- Call today if you are wanting to sale any junk or runable vehicle

Man that really sucks. I guess the Cali guys ended up getting a taste of what happens. This race really needs someone to go in and clean it up.

yeah, we got up to second once ben crashed, me and doug were the only cars on the lead lap, we had a very fast and very good handiling car, really thought we had a chance to bobby elliet everyone that night, everything was perfect, then the rear end let go.... it broke our hearts, but thats racing, that race would have meant the world to my family....

Jay Henson I also noticed that you were on the board in 3rd getting around cars, and cars weren't passing you and then disappeared off the board....I asked a few buddies I was sitting with what the ordeal was but they had no explanation either....Hell of a run buddy, I've got ya in 3rd in my book!

That sucks Jay, goin into the 3 hour, I had you and Ben Tunny as the 2 I wanted to win. I have only seen you race a couple times but you have quickly became one of my favorite drivers. I still believe you got 3rd, I think its obvious to everyone. The blackout thing happens often, seen it many times over the years, always goes off the the most random top 3 pops up. Sucks you wont be back, really enjoyed watching you guys. You would think they would want an out of towner to win, other out of towners would say he won, we have a chane, and they would travel to race, and the more the drivers, the bigger the profits, you would think they would figure this out. I think they have ran away more drivers this year than any other year, Dossey, Kirby, Rodney, Chad, and Mark to name a few, and thats the top drivers thats been there for years. Anyways good run Jay, and good luck the rest of the season. Oh ya, and good job to the track, not only did they run off Jay and the Cali guys, im gonna say theres a good chance they probably ran off the Washington guys as well.
